Zonder internet bridges enzo gewoon in . https://shop.tado.com/nl-bx/products/smart-thermostat-x-wired

martijn,
@martijn@ieji.de avatar

mstankiewicz,
@mstankiewicz@pol.social avatar

PawelK,
@PawelK@pol.social avatar

@mstankiewicz hmmm no tak.

For my nerds: is it possible, via app or otherwise, to trigger an automation when an indoor temperature sensor detects a temp that is higher than the current outside temp via weather? I see how to do it with set/specific temps but I’m looking for a way to notify me if I need to get the AC/fans going before it gets too hot.

bricks,
@bricks@det.social avatar

@developerjustin this kind of automation should be possible with the 3rd party HomeKit app Home+ 6. I have many even more complex automations running in my Smart Home.

@developerjustin This works with an automation converted into a shortcut. I am using something similar to close my blinds when there are high temperatures expected for the afternoon.

I just spent a rediculous amount of time troubleshooting why I can’t add new devices to HomeKit. I even went so far as to try a different WiFi base station. Either I have the single most esoteric network setup—which isn’t likely—or parts of HomeKit are fundamentally broken. Again.

glennf,
@glennf@twit.social avatar

@jgamet So frustrating!

bazcurtis,
@bazcurtis@mastodon.social avatar

@jgamet @glennf This is why I try and get as many devices connected directly to Home Assistant. I then publish that back to HomeKit.

This is not related to your issue, but if you have orginal HomePods, like we do, it can make Matter devices go offline. My Eve plugs would go offline all time.

Eve support told me this

Since Matter devices do not talk Bluetooth anymore, any 'old' home hub in the sense of not being Thread-enabled may cause a disruption if it is the leading hub.

I’m this close to just dropping some cash on Ubiquity cameras but I’ve found this gold!

It can take any RTSP camera, including my most shitty YI hacked garbage and turn it into motion detecting secure video supporting device…🥰

Do you have recommendations for a networked (can get data from an app), HomeKit enabled air quality sensor?

Don't need a specific data point measured, just something that acts as a proxy for "air quality getting better/worse".

Battery-powered would be preferred, sockets are at a premium!

tosbourn,
@tosbourn@masto.ai avatar

@OpinionatedGeek this is really good to know, thank you!

Wouldn’t have even considered they’d have fans.

@gernot had the Eve Room running for a few days now and very much enjoying the new data points! Thanks again!

Upgraded to iOS 17.3.1. All my settings are gone. FFS. Weirdly, my wife can still see the shared home, but then she’s still on 17.2.1.

Alexa just worked. Why can’t this?

craiggrannell,
@craiggrannell@mastodon.social avatar

Ah, no. My wife tried to change something and it’s all gone for her too. Excellent. Thrilled about the prospect of spending my Sunday setting all this stuff up for the third time. And then jumping through hoops trying to invite her.

It says something that most of our HomeKit set up is HomePods and Apple TVs. So this is Apple kit and Apple kit. Gah.

is broken enough post-update that I must temporarily stand up to see if it can work around the problems.

Eg: of my 4 RGB lightstrips, 2 fail to 'hear' updates triggered by Siri or Automations, only updating when the Home app is used to invoke the relevant scene.

If this is an issue with the devices (unlikely) or the Thread network (possible?) Hass won't help. But if it’s bugs in Homekit "central”, as seems likely…?

I assume Hass won't help w/ Siri tho 🙃

vcdx71,

@bitprophet of or works in HA you can use the HomeKit bridge to expose it to HomeKit so Siri would work..

bitprophet,
@bitprophet@social.coop avatar

@vcdx71 true, it depends a lot on how much HomeKit I leave in the mix.

So, you have a product or an app, and you want to do what Apple does but they don’t let you, and your request is reasonable without many downsides?

Look, there is a RIGHT to do that, and the EU enforces that, so Apple had to put up a form: https://developer.apple.com/contact/request/interoperability/

I can think of a lot of things in the API, where this applies. Why can’t I access TVs? Why can’t I set „adaptive Lighting“? And the list goes on and on.

/via @aaron_pearce

aaron_pearce,
@aaron_pearce@mastodon.social avatar

@gernot It is a huge list of why can Apple do it, but not us in the end with no given reasons.

gernot,
@gernot@mas.to avatar

@aaron_pearce Though what makes me easy about it is that their home team is occupied working on something that we don’t see, because except the half-done Matter framework and the unsatisfying Home ap rewrite we don’t see anything since years. And with all this stuff I doubt it will go the same way it did in the past.

Especially if you look at the EU DMA vs the US Epic ruling: We now know that good legislation works and provides actual results.

Wallflower 2.0 is released, a dashboard for your iPad! It’s a complete rewrite, and besides a lot of HomeKit features it adds Weather and Calendar support. Even syncs some preferences via iCloud! And for this release week there is the code RELEASEWEEK that you can enter to get the first 3 months for €9.99! https://nxtbgthng.com/wallflower

Finally found a good use for both our garage webcam and on the ; two things I don’t typically get much value out of.

Disclosures:

  1. We bought the car before he bought Twitter, so don’t “@“ me. 😏
  2. My wife is the video star because my back has been out for 2 days. 😩

A sped up time lapse video showing my wife shoveling the driveway and cleaning off the car after a small snow storm.

theotherlinh,
@theotherlinh@hachyderm.io avatar

@kevinctofel I wanted to do this with my Nest footage. Unfortunately, the newer versions (Google Home app only cameras) heavily restrict the video history and what is downloadable. I feel like I missed this on your old podcast and it’s infuriating how limiting Google has made it.

I have a automation to automatically turn on my living room lamps 30 minutes before sunset. But some days it gets cloudy outside and dark inside much sooner than that.

Is there such thing as a smart indoor light sensor, to control my lamps depending on how dark or light it is inside my apartment?

gernot,
@gernot@mas.to avatar

@ericleamen Yes. Philips Hue Motion sensor has that. As do some cameras.

gernot,
@gernot@mas.to avatar

@spezl Aqara.
