It's not as good as ChatGPT but as a demonstrator that a model can run on a laptop, for experiments etc i like GPT4ALL. It's easy to install. Also it's opensource both model and data. It doesn't need internet so you can experiment, combine it with your own code etcetera

mindfulzombie,

@ErikJonker I’ve tried it out for a while and as you say there’s still a gap between state-of-the-art chatgpt. But man, It’s running on a laptop and you get total control over deployment and privacy issues. It won’t take long until things catch up.

@mindfulzombie ...it also shows that maybe organisations can make themselves a bit less dependent from large platforms like OpenAI/Microsoft, Google, Amazon in the future , if they invest in own infrastructure, models etc. The way to go for governments at least in my view.

mindfulzombie,

@ErikJonker All this in combination with this:

(Meta wants to make LLaMA available for commercial use, and apparently OpenAI may have similar plans.)

If this happens it would seriously make it viable for smaller organisations and governments to start implementing their own hosted solutions.
