This is an interesting read, there are some scary ideas behind the push for AI in everything, being propagated by the nightmare crew that brought you most of the other terrible stuff to come out of Silicon Valley...
and then reading the article, I kept being reminded of weight loss public health stuff: specific, actual harms being outweighed by vague, potential benefits (for examples, I offer Maintenance Phase, a podcast about junk science relating to wellness, weight loss and health ... specifically check out the episodes about The President's Physical Fitness Test, Calorie Menu Labeling (two parter) and the Worm Wars)
@airadam it’s the sparkling christo capitalism for me… as with genetically modifying life itself, the potential good of machine learning is so dwarfed by profit-seeking ego zealots that the cumulative impact of the new tech moves us backward
