I’m beginning to get the distinct impression that leftists who care about the environment enough to do actually get off their ass and do something about it are a miniscule minority.

Most seem more interested in virtue signaling their love for humanity while we fill our nest so full of shit our children drown in a boiling vat of it.

And honestly, I think the IDPOL cancel culture just has a lot of people too scared to speak out for fear of being labeled an eco-fascist.

It’s crazy.

There won’t be any people to love in a decade or two if we don’t get our environmental shit together. And it is going to hit the marginalized groups the hardest, first.

We don’t have the luxury of choosing our battles anymore people. We ALL have to be #Class warriors. We ALL have to be #SocialJustice Warriors. And, we ALL have to be #EnvironmentalWarriors

#ClimateCrisis #Climate #SpeciesExtinction

@LeftistLawyer I don't think that's fair. I probably do care about the environment. But for about 3 years now I have spent most my professional life operating against the US militia movement, which is it's own unique threat. I don't have the expertise -nor the bandwidth , quite frankly- to do anything environmentalish. The world I live in is pretty dark and I can barely maintain myself as is, I can't be adding more darkness. I'm not the only one that has made such a choice, there are people who are doing good work to fight bigotry, or educate children, or provide medical services to the impoverished, and just can't do much about the environment, not because they don't care, but because they just can't. You're an environmental lawyer so you are especially sensitive to the lack of action, and I get that (I often have to remind myself that not everyone who doesn't work against right wing DVEs are cowards although it feels that way) but you should try to separate the ones who do good in the world on by working on other issues from the ones that don't do anything good at all.

@LeftistLawyer @MobiusBlack I don't know how, but somehow we need to work together, to co-ordinate better, so that we can realise all our collective goals from ending poverty and racism to preserving a habitable environment.

    claralistensprechen3rd,

@LeftistLawyer The point is that climate actions are being taken both individually and by many organizations, not the least of which is the NAACP. Wearing left/right blinders will prevent anyone from seeing that which surrounds them.

@LeftistLawyer I don't see the world in terms of left/right, sorry. That appears to be your job. My job is to point out that people don't come in right/left flavors and people who can see naught but left and right tend to be blind to what's right in front of them. A comment that is case in point is the one about "eco-fascists" which I'm sure was evoked by the use of the term "environmentalist", which is another pigeonhole that people who care for and do things for the environment don't belong in. The term "environmentalist" is what Greenpeace falls into and they are in fact eco-fascists...and the rest of us who care about wildlife and the environment find the term to be an insult--equally so the term "leftist".

For people who claim to be all for diversity, the people who put people into pigeonholes deny actual diversity.

Climate and social justice inevitably go hand in hand.

@LeftistLawyer my estimate on this is <10%. I have never met IRL anyone who gives a shit beyond pearl clutching or supposed angst.

A good proxy is flying, they say they care about Climate change ? if they're flying, they're lying, no matter their bullshit justification.

While I had a vasectomy decades ago becasue we're about 7 billion to many on the planet BUT the richest 1 billion are the real problem.

I quit work 20 years ago one reason was becase my enviormental footprints was too high. I cycle, I don't fly for holidays I drive very occasionally becase my fellow Voters have eviscerated the public tranport system here with their continud shitty votng habits, i live lived car free back in the city and lived off grid on a small solar system for a decade prior to that. I don't own any meat eating pets, their enviormental footprint is too high and their destruction of native wildlife is indefensible environmentally. Back when I Iived in the city I attened the occasional Extinction Rebellion protest and still donate.

I don't think we have to do this together, what works for me here in remote rural Australia won't work for someone in Tanzania, or somone in Scotland. We have to reduce emissions and our enviormental footprint, how we do it is easy and we have the tools, just not the desire.

    claralistensprechen3rd,

@LeftistLawyer Mobius, the Leftist Lawyer confines himself to leftists only. Since the vast majority of people don't fit into that theoretical cubbyhole, he's not counting us non-aligned folk actually doing something about the environment on the "Think Globally Act Locally" basis, and there are a lot of us. He's overlooking Native Americans entirely.

The chill effect is real in Canada, the RCMP have entire units dedicated to protecting pipelines and arresting environmental activists (See: Fairy Creek, Wet’suwet’en).
