@mrcompletely@Corry342 according to billy's book, he bought it from barbata in mid/late '74 & lived there on/off for 20-25 years. harrison ford may've been involved in its construction.
Doing a little late night recording for an upcoming project from an old friend. I'm using the house kit at work - Slingerland drums and Zildjian K cymbals. My favorite fringe benefit of the job. Membership has its privileges.
Happy Birthday to Clyde Stubblefield, the OG Funky drummer. 🥰 We had the honour of recording the great man for an album we produced with Alison Limerick, back in the late 90s. None of the tracks were ever used, but it was an absolute riot recording our hero!

I want to get into #drums again. More intense. It makes so much fun, that’s why I have the following idea: #FediJam
If you’re a guitar player and you’d have some fun making some jamming, I’d love to contribute. Do you have a theme but no drums? Send me your track and I’ll put something on it.
Without a goal and pressure. I don’t want to release anything. Just for fun. Without big expectations.
Maybe a live jamming would be also a possibility with tools like https://jamulus.io/#Jamulus
As a #drummer I like to talk shop about #drums, but the active forums for that are heavily loaded with reactionary old white men, including the moderators. The amount of blatant bigotry is ridiculous, especially because they are all very skilled at using euphemisms so they don’t break the usual rules against politics and religion. We can be talking about the thickness of the plating on a certain era of metal shell, and somehow they manage to insert coded racism, every time.
@mlawton Right? No adult is surprised that we have differing opinions, but the fact (IME) that the overall environment is getting worse is depressing. I wonder if #drums are a more exaggerated case because the trend is toward samples, loops, and triggers, so people clinging to real/vintage drums tend to be pig headed old-schoolers.
@davemark hey Dave! I was thinking about this a little more and for someone getting into drums, you might want to check out Spoon.
I think albums like this one are great to play along to because there are lots of straightforward rock beats that are repetitive, giving you lots of room to learn the groove on the fly and to play around with improvising: https://music.apple.com/us/album/they-want-my-soul/1440859888
Am really enjoying my electronic drum kit but as some of the reviews pointed out, the rack it mounts to is a bit short. Just ordered some aluminium tubes to replace the rear legs, which I can then use to replace the front legs, lifting the whole kit up by 100mm. I feel like a real engineer. #drums#electronicDrums#alesis
Ginger Baker, a magnificent drummer (percussionist). I see a lot of folks focusing on the guitarists and song writers from the 1960s/early 1970s. But I feel it's a huge mistake to ignore his presence and influence on the groups he performed with.
