What has everyone been playing lately?

What's everyone on /m/gaming playing lately?

I'm still making my way through the Diablo IV campaign, really enjoying that but looking forward to blasting and figuring out if I enjoy the endgame more than anything at this point. I'm a binge Path of Exile player but the past few leagues haven't really done it for me. It's been nice to play an ARPG again and I'm enjoying D4's slower pace. Zoom zoom is great in POE, but it's nice to get back to basics a little bit.

Went with Whirlwind Barbarian. Know it's meta, but Cyclone Slayer is my favorite POE build so I'm just trying to enjoy my time as the overpowered class rather than fighting it haha.

Played through the Lies of P demo as well and thought it was mostly great. Not the greatest example of gameplay for the genre IMO, but the production values and the vibe were stellar.

How about you guys?

Thomasnotused,

Lately I've just been bouncing around between a few games. Mostly Project Zomboid, the Mass Effect trilogy (and Andromeda when I'm done with that), and Fallout: New Vegas (Tale of Two Wastelands, specifically). Haven't really been that interested in any of the new releases lately tbh...

Andyzoot,

I've juggled a few games recently.
I just finished It Takes Two with my girlfriend. 7/10
I'm working my way through Yakuza Kiwami. Enjoying it so far but I think I'm only halfway through the story.
I got EA Play for a month for It Takes Two so I also downloaded Super Mega Baseball 3. I don't even like baseball but I really like this series. I previously had the second game. Lots of customisation and it's a game that anyone can pick up and play.
Finally, I recently got The Crew 2 as I've been looking for a racing game to scratch an itch. I haven't put too much time into this yet. I am currently playing with the handling settings to get a nice mix of Arcade and simulation racing that satisfies me...

Played through Outer Wilds and its DLC recently, and it instantly cemented itself as my favorite gaming experience of all time. Such a shining example of what the medium is capable of.

After playing Outer Wilds it also became one of my most memorable games for sure. But I still have to play the DLC, is it as good as the main history?

I would say yes easily, that same sense of discovery and piecing together the narrative is there and the actual story that it tells is on par if not better than the base game, to the point where the game would now feel incomplete without it. The only gripe I had was that the gameplay at points was much slower and you spend a lot more time on foot, which might not be to everyone's tastes. Regardless many of the best moments in the game are in the DLC, I'd say it's definitely worth your time.

That has been the most incredible game that I can't tell anyone about other than "I really like it and you would probably enjoy it too"! It's always a joy to hear that someone else played it through and explored everything the game has in its tiny universe, which I think fits in with the theme of the game as well.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game and I hope this game inspires future game devs to make more like it!

soroka,

Finished Elden Ring today after bouncing off pretty hard upon initial release. Enjoyed it overall, but its specific type of open-world content delivery is just not my cup of tea, I think. Also, felt that it dragged in the last third.

I recently revisited to finish it off, and I agree it's stronger in the first half or so. Especially since the end is basically just boss fest. I'm very hyped for the DLC, whenever that comes. It's rumored it was going to be two expansions, but they decided to delay and lump it all in one for massive new addition.

soroka,

I’ll have to check it out! Maybe not right away to not get burned out. I love From’s DLC, and actually wanna replay Ringed City sometime.

Still working thought TOTK. There is just so much content.

Been playing Car Mechanic sim 2021 on gamepass. I like the changes it's done compared to the others.

Just playing a shitload of Diablo IV, happy times.

Thio,

Doing TOTK main quests and apparently the game is much longer than I expected... I am about 60 hr in and I feel I have make it at most 50%, maybe way less.

Also playing some HOI4 when I got too much time.

TOTK feels like a huge game for sure. i don’t know how many hours i’ve put in off the top of my head, but i’d guess it’s in the 80-100 range. i think i’ve gone through about 90% of the main story, but if i want to go through all the side quests, get all the armor, find all the koroks… who knows how long it would take. honestly, i probably won’t 100% this one, but i’m having a lot of fun still.

SteelGeneral,

I've been playing Tears of the Kingdom a little here and there - I've been slow to get into it, but I'm starting to get hooked.

Also I recently got a Retroid Flip and have been using that to play the translated Front Mission 5 for the PS2 (started the game years and years ago but never got too far - I've always loved the Front Mission games so am excited to get into this one!).

Oh and a group I game with is starting in on Path of Exile, so will probably be giving that a try soon.

BearTiger913,

GRID (2008) on my PC - it's still hands-down my favorite racing game of all time. Had it originally on the 360, bought it a few years later on Steam. Best arcade-racing physics ever made. Codemaster's masterpiece.

Subnautica has occupied most of my time lately. I find it really stressful and I admittedly have trouble progressing, but it is so rewarding. It has been nice to revisit it after not playing it in years. I like pretty much everything about it, from the interface and sound design to how splendidly pretty each biome is, and there is something compelling about the ever-present sense of dread.

If we’re talking PC games, I’ve been getting back into Kenshi these past few weeks. If we’re talking table top, me and a buddy have been playing Cyberpunk RED and it’s been going well for only being a few sessions in

michaelormonde,

Pretty much Street Fighter 6 exclusively since it released. I've always liked fighting games, but I'm never very good at them. Something seems to be clicking with this one though and I'm having fun with Zangief online as well which is shocking to me

I originally thought I'd try out the modern controls and they were pretty good, but gravitated back to classic
