LWS4 is bloody good. I was having an emotion when <spoiler>Aurene got branded and then rose from the dead with a joke about eating a lich having its advantages.</spoiler>
Even though obviously she wasn't going to be dead, it still worked. Well done, writerlings. A long way from the "kill 3 rats but it's important" of most MMO writing.
@yngmar Don't forget that this was the end of an episode within the season. After the branding, people had to wait for weeks for the resolution, and there was quite a bit of speculation. It wasn't as obvious that she was gonna survive as it might now be for you ;)
if i could have anything gw2 lore wise, i'd want to get my grubby mitts on a copy of trahearne's personal journal. you know he would have an entry in there like "saw a snail today... truly effervescent. we must all overcome obstacles as it overcame the rock face upon which it crawled..." he spent 4 hours watching that snail slime around. laying on his stomach kicking his legs like a schoolgirl doing homework on her bed. yeah this happened in orr i think, i was there actually.
Looking for a multiplayer game to spend as much or as little time on as you like? Let me recommend #GuildWars2.
It's an MMO, yes, but one without a subscription fee, without gear grind, and it's not pay-to-win. You can literally drop out for a year, come back, and all your gear and progress are still relevant. It also has a very generous free-to-play tier, you can basically "try it out" for months.
@wintersweet Yeah I've noticed that they apparently created a little backstory cameo when they re-released season 1 last year. I haven't even played that particular instance yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him there :)
@scy It's SO good!! That's something I like about Icebrood Saga too: the horror undercurrent and some unusual instruments (e.g. "Alpine Marches" -- iirc that's something even more unusual than a hurdy-gurdy)
@wintersweet I have definitely not played IBS enough (one story playthrough, basically did each meta only once), so I don't really have any favorites there, but one of the top comments under that video I was linking to summed it up perfectly:
"There is one constant thing that guild wars 2 has never disappointed me with and that's the music."
Finally started End of Dragons! I can't wait to explore the new beautiful areas and find all the new things!!
Icebrood Saga ending was fantastic and I'm really digging the animated cutscenes.
The longer I play #GuildWars2 the more I love it :cat_heart:
@kaspis Oh, I don't want to take away anything from your excitement :) I myself wasn't that disappointed with it either. But I can remember how pissed GW2 YouTuber and lore enthusiast WoodenPotatoes was, for example 😂
The Rytlock/Ryland dynamic, is interesting, but caring so much about their children is highly unusual in charr society, so people complained that they acted too human-like. Again, I can understand it, but it doesn't bother me too much either.
@kaspis At the end of the day, I think it was the right decision to shorten the Icebrood Saga and focus on End of Dragons. It might've been one of the worst releases of all of GW2, but it allowed them to focus on EoD, which vastly improved the quality again.
It's a great expansion, and I hope you'll enjoy it. :)
I've been having fun with berserker although it's one of those builds that feels pretty fun and yet like I must be nerfing myself compared to boon herald/cVirt/(include op build of the month here)
not very forgiving of issues
svanir shaman here made me drop berserk, by using his Skill Lag ability, quite unfair really pouts#GuildWars2
I think I've figured out why the reddit #guildwars2 player base (and also the players in the main GW2 discord) seem so out of touch with the balance patches and get mad about things that aren't worth getting mad about
They're WvW players that do open world metas under the impression that nerfs targeted at endgame instanced content specifically affects their experience when it barely does, at best
if mirage is losing like ~10% of its damage and you're only doing half of that whenever you play mirage, then the nerf is hitting you for half as much. That's equivalent to the loss you feel not having food and ascended gear and the GW2 player base is famous for touting how unimportant those things are for experiencing 99% of the game, so why does it suddenly matter?
@AterNox still good money in fishing? I dislike the fishing mini game in #GuildWars2, I wish it was more passive but I guess I see why it's not, because botters.
Looks like the largest chunk of last Tuesday's #GuildWars2 patch was updating a third of all models and basically all materials to be BGFX only (all DX9 stuff is gone now)
My mouse broke (boo) and because of how I play heal alacrity Specter I need to get a direct replacement which is like £100. Bleh. Here I was hoping to finally move off Razer due to longevity being iffy and there are no alternative MMO mice with the same number / style of buttons...
@Lucinellia@pixel yeah there isn't a lot of innovation happening for MMO mice anymore. Damn shame, it's a fantastic form factor for more than just gaming.
@bass@Lucinellia unfortunately the MMO market isn't moving peripherals like it used to which is why super light fps mice are the bulk of the market rn, that's where they turn over the most product and where advertising is most efficient
Morning Folks! The other day when I commented about Dragon Riding in #WorldOfWarcraft I was presented with a cavalcade of comments saying I needed to level it up to appreciate it. I've done that now. It is still a pale comparison to the systems it borrowed from in #GuildWars2
