The judge asks the attorneys on both sides to draft a limiting instruction to jurors, informing them that they cannot infer Trump's guilt based on Michael Cohen's guilty plea.
That's it for the clarifications on the motions in limine for the prosecution. Two procedural "but significant" issues now from Blanche, both re: filing of motions.
First, the premotion letter process which requires Blanche to send these letters to the prosecution, who have 48 hours to respond before defense can file. Second, the same process but with the "redactions issue."
Justice Merchan: We have some 500 prospective jurors waiting. The parties should just work out these things. Let me continue with my pre-trial checklist. Let's begin with the time limit on voir dire. Usually I allow 15 minutes on the first round
First is the time limit for voir dire: 15 mins for first round, 10 mins in subsequent rounds, but "clearly this case calls for a little bit more than that." But, he notes that most trials have 15 item questionnaires, while this one has 42.
Trump's lawyer Blanche: We would ask for a half hour on the first round, and 20 minutes after.
Justice Merchan: Defense counsel must not offer a reason why the defendant may not testify, nor imply that there is a second side to the story, for the defense
Justice Merchan: Counsel is directed to not approach the witnesses at any time. If the defendant will testify, Defense counsel may of course refer in opening statement to what the defendant will say. But if not, opening cannot include what the defendant might say
Merchan: Mr. Trump, you may remember that I previously gave you Parker warnings: You have the right to be present in the trial. 👉🏼If you disrupt proceeding, you may be excluded & jailed. If you fail to appear, a warrant will be issued for your arrest👈🏼❗️

Prosecution now saying Trump was well aware of the 4/1 gag order bc he posted about it several times
Merchan looks on quietly with his signature poker face, as Blanche rises to counter.
Blanche again makes argument that these posts are not targeted at specific indivs, but rather reactions to "salacious repeated attacks by these witnesses."
The jurors (who we still haven't seen) been dismissed for lunch, so Merchan dismisses everyone else as well.

@GottaLaff Trump uses threats constantly so he doesnt actually perceive them as real. 24 hours in jail would be good for him. He has to be treated like a toddler.
