Metalhead.club currently loses about 6 % to 9 % active users per month.
Well, it's no surprise that users lose interest, especially if they registered during one of the user waves and just wanted to check out what this Mastodon or Fediverse thing is.
Nevertheless it's sometimes a bit sad to see the numbers drop ;)
But of course I'm still happy to host this place for you - even if it'd be just 100 users. 😉

Um. Oh also. I ran a GNU Social node for a while.
Had >100 w/ basically no effort other than a cool name and theme. Only maybe 3 were at all active.
Then there was that little marketing agency that made several dozen posts for, like, weed & shrooms. 🤣
I contacted the company and said thanks but, to chill out and spread the posts out to more like one per day so it isn't spammy. They weren't even aware 😖 but said they'd contact their contractor about it.
@thomas I think that's OK, it's not a platform that's design to be addictive and keeping people engaged for as long and as often as possible. People can dip in and out, get on with their lives etc. It will hopefully ebb and flow and balance out over time.
@thomas retention is the problem for whole Fediverse. We need more public figures and media here so people can gather around something. This is old school net, for all that is good and bad about it
@thomas how active is an 'active' user? One thing I come to the fediverse for is not feeling the need to post/interact regularly. I will often disappear for weeks at a time haha.
