Alternative headline: Netflix executives are completely out of new ideas, and have vowed to never release new content again

snownyte,
snownyte avatar

In actuality - Adam Sandler needs $XX Million dollars because Netflix has poor taste in talent and would be willing to sacrifice at least 20 shows to be pulled from it's cycle to make this work.

GladiusB,
@GladiusB@lemmy.world avatar

Bring back mind hunter you dumb fucks and maybe I will resub.

kandoh,

If he takes on the Carl Weathers role and let’s Pete Davidson be the young golfer then it could be good?

hal_5700X,

Let good things be. Stop it.

Hawanja,

Why?

TurboHarbinger,

Can he just retire? Please?

Anticorp,

Sandler’s goofy, weird speaking & mannerisms worked when he was 20. They don’t work now that he’s an aging middle aged man. He just seems… Idk man, I don’t have a better word for it. He just seems retarded.

delirious_owl,
@delirious_owl@discuss.online avatar

Always has. Wasn’t that the whole joke of Billy Madison?

SkyezOpen,

Waterboy. Little Nicky.

Coreidan,

Sounds extra lame

Onii-Chan,
Onii-Chan avatar

Don't do this, Netflix. Happy Gilmore is sacred ground.

mojofrododojo,

Sandler said Shooter McGavin already leaked it… appears they have all the (surviving) cast on board.

Tom_Hanx_Hail_Satan,
@Tom_Hanx_Hail_Satan@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m not going to watch it but I’m happy shooter is getting a paycheck. He’s such an underrated character actor.

mojofrododojo,

yeah, given sandler’s last few years I’m hopeful but not expecting a hit.

Lifecoach5000,

How about Grandma’s Boy 2?

mojofrododojo,

would love this but there are some serious problems with some of the actors apparently.

Also appears that Allen Covert, the star, is doing more behind the camera work these days. But considering how very on point the movie was deriding the game industry, a return to the universe could be fun.

merthyr1831,

Welcome to modern media, where nothing is new and everything is a “reboot” or a “sequel”. you’ll get regurgitated slop passed between a few media conglomerates and if anything actually ends up decent it’ll be canned and wiped from the earth before anyone can see it.

NegativeLookBehind,
@NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world avatar

Let’s see, here’s a short list of awesome movies

Zoolander

Super Troopers

Anchorman

Dumb and dumber

And here’s a list of awesome sequels to those movies

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Austin Powers

simple,

Anchorman 2 wasn’t that bad

NegativeLookBehind,
@NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world avatar

That movie was absolute trash

Son_of_dad,

Nobody has an in between anymore. Why must a movie be a 10 or “absolute garbage”? Why no in between??

TwigletSparkle,

Bill & Ted

Tron

The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Star Wars trilogy

also I hear a Megamind 2 is in the works without Will Ferrel…?

Maven, (edited )

Megamind 2 is already out!

(It’s bad)

asdfasdfasdf,

Both Bill and Ted sequels were horrible. The third was actually worse than #2.

Bill and Ted 1 was a perfect movie.

spongeborgcubepants,

perfect

excellent

Amputret,
@Amputret@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Why the fuck is Tron on this list? Tron Legacy is a great sequel.

delirious_owl,
@delirious_owl@discuss.online avatar

I think the second list was the list of good sequels

Amputret,
@Amputret@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Ah, I thought it was talking about The Hobbit trilogy, the Star Wars Prequels/Sequels, Bill & Ted Face the Music (though I haven’t seen it myself).

VindictiveJudge, (edited )
@VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world avatar

I wouldn’t put Face the Music on the same level as Excellent Adventure, but I liked it as much as Bogus Journey. Alex Winter got back into the role of Bill so easily it was almost concerning.

bionicjoey, (edited )

I recently found out there are actually multiple entries into the megamind franchise, including at least one new feature length movie and a tv series. None of which have any members of the voice actors from the masterpiece that is the original film, and all of which have some of the worst ratings I’ve ever seen on review sites.

boaratio,

I legit love Super Troopers 2. I regularly rewatch it, especially the Hockey Night in Canada scene. Highly recommend.

NegativeLookBehind,
@NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world avatar

A far cry from its original glory

Tujio,

Happiness in your household was wonderful.

SkyezOpen,

I felt like super troopers was a proper sequel. Enough throwbacks to keep fans entertained without just being a rehash of the old one.

Same with clerks 3.

TheFriar,

Clerks…3?

I was a huge Kevin smith fan as a kid. But…clerks 3? Is it really worth it? I could get into enjoying some of it again, but I just, yknow, inferred it’d be bad.

SkyezOpen,

Actually I was thinking of Jay and silent Bob reboot. Clerks 3 is a bit more heavy.

newthrowaway20, (edited )

Why can’t we just leave well enough alone.

CaptainSpaceman,

Corporate greed

FigMcLargeHuge, (edited )

The second they (hollywood) fucked with The Three Stooges I knew they have no boundaries they won’t cross. Want to bet they attempt to A.I Bob Barker for another fight scene?

teamevil,

Definitely going to be Drew

mindbleach,

Wayne Brady gonna choke a bitch.

Anticorp,

originalucifer,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

mahn has there ever been a good sequel to a cult classic? i dont think so. this sounds terrible.

bamboo, (edited )

Alien / Aliens

Unbreakable / Split (but not Glass!)

mindbleach,

If we’re counting Alien as a cult classic, then The Terminator / Terminator 2 as well. The first is a horror movie about a waitress trapped in a time loop that ends with the apocalypse. The second is a transhumanist masterpiece where she’s a psycho guerilla ready to fight god.

Lighttrails,

Wayne’s world 2

originalucifer,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

you found one!!

TachyonTele,

While true, there’s very very few that were good when made decades after the last one.

Anticorp,

True, but that wasn’t made 30 years later. The era and age in which Sandler’s material worked is long gone.

mojofrododojo, (edited )

EMPIRE ?

Dante Hicks: “Empire” had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader’s his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that’s what life is, a series of down endings.

ShadowRam,

Blade Runner

Wogi,

Planet of the apes, kinda. On the second try at least.

Mad Max.

rooster_butt,

Clerks 2

CoggyMcFee,

I feel like I’m the only person who loved Clerks and did not enjoy Clerks 2 at all

mindbleach,

Austin Powers, depending on how you classify the original. Not belated - just a big jump from a minor oddity to a massive sequel.
