He didn't liken migrants to Hannibal Lecter. It's a little hard to tell exactly what he meant, but what he said was that he was a wonderful man, and then he called him the late great Hannibal Lecter, and then he told him congratulations. Saying foreign countries are sending Hannibal Lecters into our country is one interpretation but honestly who knows.
Here's the video; the relevant part of the transcript in context is:

I just program in-so-far as I like modding games so I have learned C, C#, C++ and Java. I know enough to make my own programs or even a game; but not enough to do so entirely from scratch unless it was just a simple text-adventure (when I get to the point in my books where it starts going into how to draw shapes and stuff directly with code, my head explodes because I’m not wired for math 😵💫). Definitely still want to learn, but I haven’t had success on my own and I don’t have money for school. I like these communities because I do enjoy coding even if I’m not super adept at it.
Pseudo-science + factoids does not create actionable advice. I hate these things as they have just enough accuracy to seem legit, but not nearly enough to be useful.
Do any of these things and I guarantee some kind of chemical level will change somehow:
Saying that one action will be more effective for a self-diagnosed “deficiency” is completely bunk. All this chart is doing is creating layers of false equivalence.
(I should note that if you have an oxytocin deficiency, you likely have bigger problems to deal with than wondering when your next acupuncture session is.)
The dude obviously is passionate about helping others that struggle with GAD and the general advice isn’t actually bad. Exercise, eat better, be more self-aware, etc… It legit helps! (I don’t see any blatant grifting on that site either so that is a huge plus. It really looks like a COVID project that has gone stale, TBH.)
Where I have a problem is when the science is bad or infographics are misleading.
If you think you have a social anxiety disorder now, just wait until you start spouting off BS about your “chemical imbalances” in front of people who might actually know a thing or two.
Edit: All I could think about when reading about how to increase my dopamine levels was cocaine. (I don’t like cocaine personally, I just like the way it smells.)
His references to “destroying dopamine receptors” is a thing, but I am fairly sure that you need to be hittin’ the meth for a bit to do so. I could be the one wrong on that, though. I have been taking Adderall for about 10 years daily, so if there is anyone at risk of legit brain damage, it’s me.
You know when there are 10 minutes left to go, when there’s going to be a major event, or when the murderer is going to be caught. So, I think it’s time for a show just to break those rules.
I mean, Dr Who tho…
The structure is kind of baked in, unless they do more 2/3 parters, and those are announced ahead of time and have their own.
There’s overarching themes, but it’s all about the self contained episodes. Its not like they can do one long story, at the end of the episode the TARDIS goes off to a new adventure. Even if they did “reinvent” that, lots of others have by now.
It just reads of changing shit for the sake of changing it.
Also, I don’t know who’s acting like Dr Who just got inclusive, they have been ahead of general culture for a long time while still being a show meant to be watched as a family.
Yeah, I’m all for experimentation, but “traditional” story structures exist for a reason. It’s definitely possible to work outside of that box, and I’m interested to see what they do with it, but it’s also going to be a hard target to hit.
I don’t know of a way to add a SU or SUDO binary. It is really dumb to do so if you have a basic understanding of the hardware and how the whole system works. Your hardware is untrusted from the get go. It is sandboxed but the presence of the root binary breaks that sandbox entirely. They have access to all the binaries in essence, but it is the lack of binaries capable of making changes to take control that protects you along with the SELinux context for each directory and application. All apps have an enormous amount of freedom inside their sandboxes. They are more like Linux users themselves than they are some software application. With every application you’re basically trusting the developer to exist along side you on your device. This is the mechanism that enables users to have no background knowledge or interest in security and still have a functional device. The developer is given all the needed access in a sandbox where they have enormous access to the device; they are doing all the work for you. If the root binary, wget, or curl are present on the device, every app is a root kit to do whatever they want. In addition, the code on android apps is fail safe because of the lack of these binaries. They have super buggy junk code as standard. This only works because of no root.
All that said, I think you’d have to compile from source to add such a binary manually, but I could’ve wrong. IIRC, the root directory is accessible when USB is plugged in and the options enabled.
The only time it even really comes into play is if you use Crystal weapons or katanas. Or crystal katanas that will break after 2 hits.
Tears of the Kingdom.
Unlike BOTW where if you wanted good weapons, you would have to go find them and keep your inventory full of them just in case, TOTK has the Fusion power so you can take any piece of shit and make it viable with monster horns.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas come super close to what I would think is perfect. I hate using duplicate weapons to repair, but modding the game to use duct tape and weapon scrap for it makes it work way better. It’s been hella long and I think NV is like that in vanilla but I know FO3 isn’t and keeping those unique weapons working was such a PITA.
Fallout: New Vegas. The game pushes you across the map even though it is an open world game. You don’t have anywhere to start hoarding stuff and use it around much, since you have to move quite some while, at the early-mid game at least.
Both weapons and armor have a condition, which degrades with use and damage and can be simply repaired by combining 2 of them, or having some form of universal repair kits that are rarer iirc. The damage system makes the “on the road, always moving from place to place” feeling better imo.
After several decades of Whovians trying to convince me to join in the franchise, and several failed attempts to get into it, I’ve found a Doctor and companion who are holding my interest.
Welcome aboard! Just remember, the emotions of the story tend to outweigh any semblance of logic, and the continuity doesn’t matter (except when it does).
Unfortunately, if you have a week to write, film, edit and release a film (probably), there’s not going to be much time to come up with something clever.
Personally, my issue with this is that it reduces the Doctor in a way, in a very important way.
The Doctor is the name they chose, he said it is a promise. That said everything about how they are, they made a choice about the person they wanted to be and that made them special, maybe even unique in all of space and time.
But nah, turns out that’s not what made them special, they were born that way and the most powerful race that ever existed with all its history and splendor is now just a pale copy of this anomaly.
I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. I’m also not going to be convinced to easily embrace it.
My first job was working in a property management company. At one point i was tasked to check all flats of a new property that got assigned to us, after the client bought it. I had to go through 30 flats in a day, to assess if there is legal possibilities for increasing the rent of people within the legal limits, based on the condition of the flat.
Going through the personal space of so many people in a single day, having to deflect about what the purpose of this is, being met with worry and hostility… There being the guy who took the day off, so he could assist his old mother, because she would have been overwhelmed if by herself. The guys who had a strongly water damaged flat in the ground floor, but me already knowing that our client will avoid any investment. The old couple where the guy kept yelling at me and his wife trying to calm him down…
This was just wrong. And now like a decade later i still remember some of the people and their flats, even though i couldn’t remember a single name.
Peoples homes shouldn’t be subjected to a profit maximizing market.
