@rbreich No ,We Need to find a way to Devolve the "Tenured 🤦🏼♂️😤" Greed that is government and have them all re apply. My theory being that big money will only cover its most profitable assistants. At least then we know the worst.
@rbreich I don't think that over turning Citizen United should be the first step. You would have to start with removing the biased judiciary. Probably won't happen since the Supreme Court believes they are exempt from any oversight.
@rbreich It's not just Citizen's United. The Equal Time laws need to be reinstated as well. "News" organizations that have a defined political bias are not, in fact, "news" rather they are entertainment. Yet we have people hanging off every word they espouse as "fact".
@rbreich eh, just limit ALL political donations to $50 per voter. Got a billion dollars, too bad, you have the same political spending power as a barista. That includes donations to PACs etc, you’ve got $50 a year, better make it count.
@rbreich Although not a complete solution each individual state has always had the power and authority to impose conditions on corporations that are created under the laws of that state.
For instance states routinely impose conditions on corporate bulk transfers, publishing books to shareholders, imposing fiduciary obligations on board members, etc etc.
So a state could also require that a corporation of that state must obtain full consent from the owners (shareholders) before management can spend corporate assets on political activities.
Of course this means that some corporations will re-incorporate to states that don't require this. But at least, even though there is a possible escape clause, such rules would be a partial, albeit imperfect, solution.
@rbreich Big news that shook America!
Tucker just released horrifying picture and videos that Fox News has been hiding for years...
This is amazing! See what it's all about. https://t.co/LUtUF3z9ZS
@rbreich Overturning Citizens United and cancelling the FOX broadcast license would transform our country in very beneficial ways. Most people don't like the billionaire's stranglehold on everything.
@rbreich Just a random reminder. We need to elect democrats with political cojones. We currently have the Medicate gang. Their only interest is stay in power to keep donor money coming. They pretend outrage but collapse when asked to be bold or challenge republicans. Their leaders talk but fear actually doing big things or having courage to fight. Ee need generational change. My policy is no one over 65.
Corporations don't have speech or religion - only the executives do. We must stop letting execs leverage their customer's money to extend the exec's rights into power over the rest of us.
