What's an uncommon skill you have that whenever you show someone they're amazed?

BarrenPlanet,

@Em0nM4stodon @Mrfunkedude I can dismantle and reassemble a Rubik's cube faster than most people can legitimately solve one!

Hacky, I realise, but a skill in and of itself. 😉

  • BarrenPlanet,

    @Em0nM4stodon @Mrfunkedude Another little-known fact: you can dismantle and reassemble a Rubik's cube in such a way as to make it impossible to solve, which is a fun trick to play on Rubik's cube wizards who are too trusting to expect subterfuge. 😆

    If only I'd known this back in high school.

    BarrenPlanet,

    @tanquist @Em0nM4stodon @Mrfunkedude Pretty sure I was an early pioneer of hacking the Rubik's cube. I've since applied this to every other area of life.

  • SrRochardBunson,

    @Mrfunkedude I can whistle crazy loud with the "lid" of an acorn. So, I can let people know of I get lost in an oak forest. 🤣

    bpeters504,

    @SrRochardBunson @Mrfunkedude just FYI: bottle caps work too. I also have this acorn/bottle cap talent

    @Mrfunkedude@mastodon.social avatar

    @bpeters504 @SrRochardBunson I can flick a bottle cap with deadly accuracy. Also works with coins.

    me,

    @Mrfunkedude It's less amazing in the circles I run in on the fediverse, but I can design and build circuit boards.

    I can usually shoot skeet without missing one. My father in law and his friends lost some money betting on it one day. I shot 47 in a row before somebody else wanted to turn. They also won't shoot with me anymore.

    AproposJoe,

    @Mrfunkedude I can whistle at a frequency that turns off car alarms. Comes in very handy living in a city.

    greatgrandma,

    @Mrfunkedude At 65, I am still able to stand with my legs straight and together and place my palms flat on the floor. Uncommon or amazing? Not sure.

    greatgrandma,

    @Mrfunkedude
    I've been known to tell someone where to go and have them thank me for directions. Does that count? 😀

    @Mrfunkedude I can move my eyes independently ... like a chameleon! 🦎

    kimlockhartga,

    @Mrfunkedude um, not very useful, but I can mimic the bridge troll from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

    @Mrfunkedude Before arthritis, I could take a match out of a box and light it using only my toes. I can still catch things that fall off of a table before they hit the ground, most times.

    chestas,

    @Mrfunkedude

    I can balance a broom, or similar type of object, upright on my nose.

    Also I can swing my arms around in opposite directions at the same time

    Ok, it might be a stretch to call these skills 😂

    I'm pretty good at finding stuff other folks have lost around the house or shop.

    @Mrfunkedude@mastodon.social avatar

    @nlarson830 Ha! So am I! I even have a knack for helping friends that I know well find stuff they've lost while I'm on the phone with them.

    @Mrfunkedude

    Ha! I can do that too!

    @Mrfunkedude I can bend the first digits of my fingers without bending the others 😊

    darkfoxprime,

    @Mrfunkedude I've lost a bit of this limberness during injury-caused inactivity, but when i'm keeping myself moving better, i can sit on my knees and toes, with knees and heels together, butt on heels, and lean backwards until my head is resting on the ground behind me. it's quite a nice quad stretch.

    Mrfunkedude,
    @Mrfunkedude@mastodon.social avatar

    @darkfoxprime my knees ached just reading that.

    darkfoxprime,

    @Mrfunkedude yeah, that's the strange thing. my knees often hurt, but this stretch helps, for me at least. :)

    WolfOnVibeStreet,

    @Mrfunkedude Flipping my eyelids inside out or how far I can bend my pinky (result of a drunken night).

    Mine is showing people how to make pretty decent scrambled eggs in the microwave.

    I'm always surprised at how many people don't know how to use a microwave to cook.

    The first time I told my girlfriend she didn't believe me until I made her some nice pillowy soft scrambled eggs straight from the microwave.

    She was dumbfounded. She thought microwaves were just for re-heating. I would go on to show her how to bake potato's, cook corn on the cob, and other things.
