@obeto@thepoliticalcat oxtails used to be $6 - havent looked recently but at least 8 here.
Never tried a pepper soup with kidneys too. Sounds fantastic!
@msquebanh@samhainnight@thepoliticalcat tysm for this. I make a lot of borscht and it can hang around for quite awhile. I offer some to friends and neighbors but the fact it's beat heavy freaks people out. lol.
@msquebanh@samhainnight@thepoliticalcat Yay! People don't know what they're missing. There are many different varieties depending on season/culture. The best I've had was a sweet Russian Jewish borscht. Sigh. I never did figure out what the secret spice was in there.
@veirling@samhainnight@thepoliticalcat My fave borscht was made by a Hungarian friend. They add rutabaga, two kinds of cabbages & beef in their borscht soup. It was super delicious!
@msquebanh@samhainnight@thepoliticalcat Sounds wonderful I want to do a study and thread about the miracle of cabbage. Such an important mainstay in cultures all over the world. I remember the first time I tried kimchi. Instant love.
@veirling@samhainnight@thepoliticalcat I LOVE cabbage! One of my fave, fast & easy ways to cook it is simply fry up with several garlic cloves & few pinches of salt & pepper. I eat it with steamed rice. I also make a green & red cabbage salad with shredded chicken & pour our nuoc cham sauce over & adding chili sauce atop.

Mmmm! Healthy and vegetarian. I’m not vegatarian but eat very little meat.
Tonight I made sausage cabbage soup w tons of organic celery, carrots & onion. And of course organic cabbage which tastes so much better than regular.
