@StillIRise1963 An otherwise perfectly healthy person could go into a hospital for any reason, even to visit someone or to work, let alone go in for a broken leg and contract Covid. How there aren't massive malpractice lawsuits against this I do not understand.
@StillIRise1963 TBH I avoid going out more than I have to: because of covid, but also because of all the shootings, but also because people suck at driving so much.
It sucks but like. At this point I'm not really sure what else to do.
@sidereal I get it. I don't go out as much because of covid either. I'm not meeting anyone for dinner anywhere. And, I'm not very psyched when people want to come here. I'm definitely not going to their house. 🤷🏾♀️
@thepoliticalcat I hear you. I had a dental issue that I put off for a long time. Ultimately, I had no choice. It was winter, but the dentist kept the window open, they had masks on. It was freezing, but whatever. I was still scared for a week. @Aviva_Gary
@thepoliticalcat It blows me away. They're really good at what they do, they've operated on both my parents and MIL. Been my dad's docs forever. My husband and I go to them too for our issues, but wtf is this no mask nonsense. @Aviva_Gary
@StillIRise1963 Someone who follows me (I can’t think of her name) lost her mom to hospital contracted #COVID The nurse removed her moms mask to take her temp ( something the nurse could have done with a forehead swipe) and didn’t replace her mask. When her daughter came back from getting coffee she had been over 15 mins unmasked in a hallway. The daughter consulted a lawyer but was told she had no case. Heartbreaking unnecessary death.
@Pineywoozle That's so terrible. I think about this when my father goes in for falling. It might take someone who has been there long enough without Covid that it has to be that they got it there.
@StillIRise1963 Her mom was novid & this was her first time unmasked in public. Way before COVID Pop’s surgeon was out of town & the fill in didn’t read Pops chart right. Gave him a drug that he had already had a horrid reaction to. He died less than 2 weeks later. Suing Drs is beyond tough. Believe me I looked into it. Hell I caught a nurse tossing his meds once cause she was too lazy to crush them & he had swallowing difficulties by then. Good Drs are good & Ive had good ones. Bad ones can FO
@Pineywoozle All horrible. I've seen some untoward things myself with regards to my parents. Old people are treated like shit and they can't defend themselves. That's why I'm always with them. I'm all over everyone to make sure they know there's someone to be accountable to.
@StillIRise1963 Oh I bet you have. Yeah when Mom would have to go to rehab one of us would make them put an extra bed in her room and take turns staying with her.
@StillIRise1963@Pineywoozle
Same. At the ER they overmedicated my mom with a relaxant, and then tried to release her to me when she literally couldn't keep her eyes open. It's hard to get her in and out of a car on a good day. Had to fight them to admit her. Explain to me how I get her into the car and up the stairs without her falling.
@StillIRise1963@Pineywoozle Pretty sure (given timing) my MIL got her second (that we know of) covid infection at hospital where she went after a fall. Was asymptotic, and only found out when her rehab place tested her. Luckily, she's fully boosted, as she's 90 this year. But, it's not a certainty she will not have longer term impact. My FIL gets dizzy getting up (going on for 6+ months now). Could be related to his covid infection last year. I don't ask, they think I'm overly cautious. Sigh.
@StillIRise1963@Pineywoozle And when I say he gets dizzy, there was one time recently he couldn't even get up to open the door. My MIL found him sitting on a chair panting! He's old, so it could be related to something old related of course. But it's also a post covid symptom I've read about. He's been to many specialists. So far no results that I'm aware of.
@StillIRise1963@Pineywoozle
When my mom was in a rehab center, the new guy across the hall was admitted with Covid. The aides were chatting with him and his wife with the door open, no masks, no one told the other patients to shut their doors and wear masks, the aides were half-masting their masks. If I hadn't asked the traveling nurse what was up, she probably would have gotten sick. I packed her stuff, and she's back here now.
@StillIRise1963@MHowell@Pineywoozle I would have said yes, of course, please come stay with us. I just need to know. That did not happen, and expectation is part of any relationship.
@MHowell One thing I’ve found is that most rehab places will let you bring and plug in a #CorsiBox#Covid (I spent part of this year helping my sis deal with rehab and hospital stuff) @StillIRise1963
@SarraceniaWilds@SKleefeld@StillIRise1963 Yep. Now look up mass shootings [any other country]. You're likely to see all the mass shooting on a single page. It is the freaking guns and weak and non existent gun laws. A lot of other countries have a lot of guns.
