IMO, finance guys are not qualified to run businesses. (Uncle left a company where he was chief engineer and VP because finance guys took over and required him to justify routine maintenance on the equipment that they used to make money. 1972.)

Finance guys know how to shift blame, the finance guys running Boeing probably better than most.

@drupalchix @CosmicTraveler IBM has experienced the same problem for the past 4 decades. It morphed from a company focused on engineering technology to being a financial manipulation company that happened to be in the technology space.

    @thepoliticalcat @drupalchix Like fictional Ferengi, they have Rules of Acquisition.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rules_of_Acquisition

    The diff here is that Ferengi are actually more sympathetic and can learn from their mistakes to be better. :eyeroll:

    What is DEI ?

    drupalchix,
    @drupalchix@drupal.community avatar

    @katronoris
    DEI refers to efforts to make institutions less hostile to marginalized people without substantially changing the structure that makes them oppressive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diversity,_equity,_and_inclusion

    rastilin,

    @drupalchix

    I mean, finance CEOs will blame anyone but themselves. I've never heard a single post bankruptcy interview where the C-levels actually admitted fault.

    drupalchix,
    @drupalchix@drupal.community avatar

    @rastilin That seems to be true of pretty much all CEOs, but vulture capitalists are the worst

    rastilin,

    @drupalchix

    Oh yeah, absolutely. But I just want to see one single interview where the interviewer just asks them "did you notice that despite being the CEO you act as if absolutely nothing you could have done would have changed things" or better yet "do you think someone who could take responsibility for actually doing their job might have been able to save the company as CEO"? Or best yet "If you're so powerless was it a mistake for them to pay you at all, do you plan to give all the money you made back"?
