Just realised that the purely economic case for UBI is basically identical to the case for VCs, just on a different scale: when people can absorb risks, innovation happens

@julesh UBI has been studied, studied, and studied.
Every single time it has helped people improve their life usually allowing them to further their education and go to work. I don't call investing in potential taxpayers as a risk.

@julesh Same for regular old welfare

sidereal,

@julesh I worry that much like VCs, UBI will primarily benefit the existing landlord class rather than actually lead to innovation.

@julesh The resilience granted by a UBI will constantly erode as consumer prices inflate in response to added demand. Hence cash should be accompanied by free/subsidised basic goods & services, where economies of scale are harnessed.

@michaelgraaf @julesh tie UBI to inflation, and tax with marginal rates based on percentiles.
