@Binder I have an engineering director that refers to highly skilled people as being the "grand wizard" of such and such domain. Even after telling them maybe that's got another meaning they weren't aware of, they still use it.

Wife and I were at a Mike Birbiglia show last night and one of his bits was on how a perfectly ordinary turn of phrase gets co-opted and everybody knows what it means and no one can use it ever again without thinking of the new meaning. His example was “happy ending”.
