I’m flummoxed. Just saw on my inactive Twitter account (which still has 112k followers) that the blue tick is back. The Musk team had taken it away when anyone could begin to buy one. And there’s a notice my account is being reviewed because I purchased a subscription “on another device.” I did not, however, buy a subscription. 🙄
I suspect if I posted reminders on my timeline there about what led to my previous Twitter “permanent suspension” my complimentary subscription would be quickly revoked. 🛩️
The final sentence of the story, however, is not accurate. There is a way to hide the blue tick by navigating to Premium>Profile Customization>Hide Your Blue Checkmark.
Forcing an unwanted blue check on involuntarily re-opened accounts isn't far from simply hijacking the account to use it for bot disinformation campaigns.
