The items for my brother's pitch drop experiment birthday present arrived, so now I need to make a stand for the funnel. This brass ring is a good place to start
@MLE_online Emily, fwiw, pitch does have a bit of lower boiling components in it, I’d imagine if this piece is meant to last and function for decades, the mahogany might absorb some of the slightly more volatile components. I’d maybe put a metal disk on top of the mahogany on the inside if you really want to keep things flowing.
@f4grx@NeadReport There's not a lot of information about what kind of pitch is the right pitch or what viscosity the pitch should be. I am either going to see if i can nab some free tar from one of the natural seeps that pops up around the la brea tar pits, or just order pitch that's meant for telescope lens polishing
