@TonyStark This is huge, but since it's not going through Congress to become law, the second another administration comes in, they can change it all back. Gotta keep voting more Dems to keep it this way.
Basically there is a process to approve such rules - however there is also an ability for a new congress to roll back rules that were enacted in the closing days of a previous administration (however if they do it complicates proposing new rules for that agency and it is all or nothing they can't just repeal one part of a rule)
@Rycaut@scottytrees Another person told me this in relation to a different issue and I get it, but let’s be real. Anyone really think that will stop Trump or his next heir from rolling back anything he wants, even if it gets tied up in legal challenges? Not a bet I would remotely take.
@TonyStark@scottytrees oh absolutely. But doing it not and not at the last minute (as many of Obama’s rules were) makes it harder to unwind them. And the longer they are active and enforced the harder it is to roll the back (as industry for all that the chamber of commerce etc like to sue any regulations at all - industry actually likes it when regulations are well known and settled as then they can plan on them and they apply to their competitors as well)
@TonyStark I love that the Chamber of Commerce is suing because this ban will supposedly "undermine American businesses' ability to remain competitive." It's easy to be "competitive" when nobody is allowed to compete with you.
@cholling If you go to the CoC website, and by no means do I recommend because it’s so irritating, there’s a whole bunch of garbage about “free enterprise.” Which is garbage because free enterprise without regulation has been responsible for enormous societal harm.
Yet this is a removal of free enterprise- for the worker. So eff them.
@alexhammy@TonyStark Yet another MISinformed American. If you will recall, Pres. Obama and then VP Biden rewrote our healthcare plans .... everyone called it Obama Care. Pres. Obama SAID there was more they needed to do, but elections were looming and NOTHING else got done to make it a GOOD plan.
