I just saw a comment to a mutual that just straight up said “Nothing Joe Biden ever does will ever be enough to get my vote" and then expressed surprise that Biden isn't gunning for their vote.

America doesn’t ask a lot of us except to participate in our own governance. And to accept the outcome of the majority.
There’s something about saying, “you must earn MY vote” that strikes of coming from a place of extreme privilege when it doesn’t matter to you when things go south for everyone else.
Wasting an opportunity to preserve American democracy, women’s reproductive freedom, minority rights of all sorts, the planet in the form of climate action, and everything positive the Biden Administration has done which is a substantial list is not progressive.

I can only hope their performative solipsism doesn't doom us all. Maintaining the purity of their record generally seems to involve much more risk to others than themselves.
@brianary@Pepper At this point, I’d expect that if my town flooded and all of my neighbors were out piling sandbags up to prevent all of our homes from washing away, these people would be fine refusing to pile up their sandbags because the sandbag had the wrong kind of sand in for them. Like we’re all looking at a way to stop the deadly flood for everyone and they’re going to sit it out and imagine how great it’ll be when nobody has anything left and they did absolutely nothing to help.
@TonyStark There's no point in even talking to those people. They expect a hand lettered engraved invitation to the party, when the party is a mosh pit. It's ridiculous. They need to get over themselves and they can do it without me.
@TonyStark am I frustrated with Biden? Yes. Does that mean I will give my support to someone else this election cycle? No, in fact HELL NO! I know that the other side will torpedo any progress made and do nothing for the average citizen.

Around 11 or so I walk outside or find a quiet place to stare into the abyss for a moment and debate when I will have to tap out for the day.
By two or so, the headache is raging and I find myself distracted trying to consider options. But this is my country and if I can't win by playing by the rules...that is their decision not mine. I'm not leaving, fuck them.
My stress balls are all blown out. I discovered an old mood ring given as a gift. Tried it on and it caught fire.
At this stage I'm mainlining LowFi girl and drinking caffeine free everything. :blobcatgiggle:

As a boomer (old!) who was out protesting at the Oakland Induction Center, in the streets of S.F. and on campus at SFSC, I wonder at the stupidity of so many people willing to condemn the planet and its inhabitants (including themselves) to fascism, intolerance, climate change.......I have a permanent headache, and if it wasn't for very dark chocolate, I wouldn't be able to get up at all - which with insomnia, would be a new level of Dante's hell.

That is another person living in a fantasy world if they expect leaders to satisfy their every whim and need. No government is perfect. We need to vote for the leader who is the best fit.
Sort of like deciding on any major life decision, I sit down with a piece of paper and make two columns- pro and con. List each on it, tally the results and decide from there.
