Israel 🇮🇱 is being watched by the world, & “if” Israel 🇮🇱 intended to conduct war crimes, I doubt they would leave any evidence in Gaza for others to discover.
This needs to be investigated, & we should await to hear the results.
@FrankFrank@randahl That is true. Have soldiers in modernized/western militaries engaged in war crimes before‽ Yes. But usually they try to destroy the evidence (via fire), not bury bodies in the ground where animals & living humans can find them.
The Palestinian Authority set up a fund to pay the parents of suicide bombers and the people who kill Israeli soldiers. The fund has paid out over $300 million to date. This fund is supported by over 90% of Palestinians.
People who do not want their children to die would not set up such a fund.
It’s sad that children are dying. Really sad. But this cartoon is offensive and wrong.

I’m not sure I am the one lying to myself. If Palestinians cared about their kids they #1: wouldn’t have started the war, #2: wouldn’t have established a fund for blowing up their own children.

@rob are you seriously suggesting, civilian Palestinians started the Hamas war? There were polls last summer showing that a huge majority of Palestinians wanted to maintain peace. @clintruin@darnell
@darnell@randahl I appreciate that this is not cut and dry. I’m nevertheless very skeptical of Israel because of what is blatantly true on the West Bank. They can blame Arafat and Abbas all they want, but Israel is doing this, not the PLO.
But in Gaza, it’s not clear. Hamas is a very bad actor. They are maximizing civilian casualties. I suspect both sides are. We’ve heard what right wing Israeli government officials say. There is no compassion.
@Extra_Special_Carbon@randahl Hamas is a genocidal, theocratic terrorist organization who needs to be destroyed. After they are removed as a threat, Israelis will be able to remove Bibi from political power due to corruption charges (unrelated to this conflict).
Most governments are dealing with existential threats to invest anything beyond sound bites regarding the conflict. I do believe the November 5th election in America 🇺🇸 will determine what happens in Gaza.
People need to stop giving the far-right crooks ot Netanyahu’s army a free pass to use Palestinian children for target practice and decapitate enemy combatants for shits & giggles.
And this happens because ”the people I know from Israel are such nice people”.
