Biden's Inflation Reduction Act includes a clause that automatically qualifies EV battery materials recycled in the U.S. as American-made for subsidies, regardless of their origin.

“Those materials could be in short supply within a few years as automakers boost EV production, but “can be recycled infinity times and not lose their power,” said Louie Diaz of Canadian battery recycling firm, which received a U.S government loan for a new NY plant opening later this year. https://www-cnbc-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2023/07/21/dead-ev-batteries-turn-to-gold-with-us-incentives.html

Biden doesn't get enough credit for being brave enough to begin America's too long delayed transition off of fossil fuels.

If we want than we've got to try to change that before the next elections so that more Americans go to the polls to help get the GOP out of power.

I'm providing free access to this article on how the Inflation Reduction Act is helping to shift the U.S. towards becoming a cleaner energy economy. https://wapo.st/3q8OcS2

Biden doesn’t get enough credit…(fill in blank )

👍👏🏻😎

Seems to me, Biden doesn't get enough credit for anything he does.

Luckily, the man seems to be less invested in his PR and more invested in getting shit done.

I think that's one reason why having such an old geezer in the White House might not be such a bad thing.

seldear,

@GreenFire @chrisU

Very true. Biden's got nothing to lose and everything to gain by going hard and then going home.

@GreenFire Ultimately it is the voters' responsibility -- a civic duty -- to elect competent political leaders and we have one in this case. It’s consequential and important.

I hear plenty of people (not in real life, oddly, but on here, another one yet again, who say things like, "Democrats and Republicans are the same” or “barely different” and it’s a ridiculous bad-faith take.

@TonyStark
I just had someone today that's sure their more educated and or intelligent than am I tell me that

They're now blocked though so I can't go back now and tell you the name of that disinformation spreading account.

TonyStark,
@TonyStark@progressivecafe.social avatar

@GreenFire I’m sure I’ll meet them if I haven’t. They all come here.

We both post tons of information that easily demonstrates the opposite. Where are those accounts then? Nighttime in St. Petersburg, maybe.

@TonyStark @GreenFire If both sides are the same, (they’re not), then they may as well vote for a Democrat anyway. Because if they’re right, (they’re not), it doesn’t matter and if they’re wrong, then things get better.

TonyStark,
@TonyStark@progressivecafe.social avatar

@samhainnight @GreenFire I wish I’d thought of that. Well done.

waiting for some congressperson to sponsor a bill to ban lithium. whose turn is it?

GreenFire,
@GreenFire@mstdn.social avatar

@m3t00
Good one, that would be right up QBert's alley, but on a related note:

Biden's BLM reversed course on allowing a company to explore for lithium in an area with a high proportion of endangered species on Friday. Which just goes to show that even though we're trying to decarbonize just as fast as we can we're trying to do it without as cautiously as possible despite our need for speed.
