@kylewritescode and myself are wanting to make an extensive list for users in the to follow.

What we'd like for each of you is to provide links to your favorite TECH related accounts here in the Please link to those accounts in the comments below.

These can be tech sites, tech news, tech reporters or anything similar that's all about TECH!

daj,

@cliffwade @kylewritescode

You mean the Fediverse surely?
It's our responsibility to educate the masses. Mastodon being software. Fediverse being the interconnected network of us all in a group hug.

@daj @kylewritescode Correct. The post has been edited. I'm simply asking for people to provide links to their favorite accounts that we can follow and add to a list.

daj,

@cliffwade @kylewritescode Thanks. Soz, I didn't want to be that reply guy. LOL. But I had a moment and became that person. I have taken myself aside and had a talking to.

@daj LOL No worries. I don't mind things like this when it's a simple misunderstanding or mistype or something similar. I appreciate the feedback.

@MartinGuay @kylewritescode Just a suggestion, but why not have a Mastodon account for the website as well?

I've always felt that having those types of accounts are super beneficial as people often just want to see what's posted to the site and not our personal stuff that we randomly post.

@MartinGuay @cryovex @kylewritescode Well there we go. I had no idea! Just dropped it a follow!

@cliffwade

I added the activity pub plugin into WordPress when it was made public.

@MartinGuay @kylewritescode Ah, very nice!

We're currently using Ghost as you know we've talked about in the past, but it is sadly pretty limited.

Kyle and I have discussed possibly switching and if we did, it would probably be to WP which would be beneficial especially with the AP plugin.

@cliffwade

Yeah, that's the appeal of WP, it's quite customizable. It's fairly maintenance-free now a day. The issue here would be to find a THEME that offers plenty of options & is optimized for SEO. If you find one of those and you like the presentation go for that. The major issue with WP is the "free themes" have little to no options which then makes you rely on PLUGINS which isn't always a good thing.

@MartinGuay Free themes SUCK! I've never used them. I've always had a custom theme.

My problem with TechDissected.com when I had it running for all those years, is eventually I lost my web developer guy who maintained the theme, customized it and all of that. So it was old and outdated which is part of why I got rid of it.

Now, @kylewritescode knows how to do a lot of that stuff. Our issue is finding the time of course.

So maybe we'll switch to WP some time soon.

@cliffwade

My recommendation to you both. Find a custom theme from themeforest that offers all the bells and whistles out of the box that you need. Make sure that core SEO and Schema are part of it as well. Pay the $50 worth for the license. You'll get several updates every year and that'll be the end of it. Most of those large themes offer a variety of type of styles with just one theme.

@MartinGuay ThemeForest is where I've bought most of my custom WP themes from over the years. But it's been several years since I last did that, so I'm sure things are considerably different now compared to then.

Back then, it still required a ton of plugins that were theme specific and those often made WP slow and bloated, big time.

@cliffwade

It's a lot better. A lot of the themes now have framework, which doesn't require plugins or very little.

@MartinGuay @cliffwade Catching up on all these notifications I woke up too. Lol.

Yes! I get my themes from TF and I have had no problems with theme. Like you said, the framework is very well defined and lightweight.
