@laurenshof@threadcount dansup said they added some new source of data from the lemmy explorer to fedidb yesterday so maybe that. but now that I am looking at how fedibd is counting I think it may be totally wrong
@stux@laurenshof@threadcount is "total users" in nodeinfo counting only local user signups? like do you know have 1114 @name accounts? or is it accounts that are remote who have interacted with the instance also counted in 'total'
Ok ... this is getting suspicious now (or big!). Dansup made a change to how the data is sourced/processed recently, so I'm wondering if there's something up.
I know many of you are familiar with the @mastodonusercount bot that counts #Mastodon accounts (and there's a big migration happening right now btw), but did you know there's also a bot that counts the growth of #Lemmy and #Kbin accounts? It is @threadcount. Kind of interesting to watch that parallel growth.
@dansup hi! big fan of fedidb.org -- i'm using it for a small bot, @threadcount . i was wondering if you could share how often the stats for lemmy and kbin update? is there maybe an hour-long cache or something like that?
@atomicpoet if you count the 23k more from https://www.hexbear.net (an instance that currently has federation turned off, but is planning on turning it on soon) then Lemmy is already passed 130k but if we also add Kbin to that (which people have now been calling #threadiverse) thats another 7k+ Also a there is bot up now at @threadcount thats been fun to watch.
