In a few weeks @w3c social web community group meeting may receive a proposal to explore chartering new social web working group that would only be open to people who work at W3C member companies. (The CG is open to all). Today there was an in person discussion at TPAC, the yearly W3C-wide f2f. It was a day-of addition to the agenda. As I predicted, #Lemmy just overtook #Microdotblog.

It is now the 5th most popular server software on the Fediverse.

#Lemmy just overtook #Pleroma to become the 6th most used server software on the Fediverse.

I have a strong suspicion that, by tomorrow, it will also overtake #Microdotblog.

And with how things are moving, it might overtake #Pixelfed too – but we’ll see how things shake out.

If you missed the #Microdotblog #Microcamp live, the sessions are now available on YouTube to catch up. This is the 6th most popular #Fediverse software - one of the first to publish to your blog, and then to #Mastodon/Activitypub & to #BlueSky directly, and is one to watch.

A lot of the accounts you follow and interact with on here are not Mastodon accounts!

For example, @theatticdwellers is a PeerTube account, @Iancylkowski is a Pixelfed account, @rstv is an OwnCast account.

There are dozens of different server types on here, not just Mastodon servers. When you talk about this place, it's not enough to call it "Mastodon", because it's more than just that.

That's why people call this place "The Fediverse", because that name covers all server types. :fediverse:
