#WordWeavers Sep 2: What could you change about your world to make it better for most people?
Racism and sexism. The world has advanced a lot in terms of declawing capitalism, which creates a huge updraft for women, poc, indigenous people, queer/trans people, etc. Economics are the tool of oppression, after all, but white supremacy and patriarchy are still implicit in all kinds of systems of power, not to mention individual prejudice.
#WordWeavers Sep 7: Why did your antagonist become an antagonist?
Because she believes entirely in her mission. She believes she's protecting the world from a violent threat, that that protection requires sacrifice and vigilance. It's not even a hard call, for her.
#WritersCoffeeClub Sept 2: On a scale of plotter to pantser, what are you?
Fwiw, I Ike GRRM's metaphor better: architects and gardeners. Anyway, I start with a concept and then let myself discover as I go. Once/if I find something interesting, I write down outlines and character sketches, but they're mostly a record of what I found than they are a plan that I intend to follow. Basically, I plan to wander.
#WritersCoffeeClub Sep 25: What keeps you striving concerning your writing goals?
I need to know how it turns out, the specific way that the story ends. I don't know that right now. I can only know by finishing it. I'm not on any clock but my own curiosity.

Most Aliens May Be Artificial Intelligence, Not Life as We Know It - Scientific American
Many good points. In combining my Christian faith with science (and science fiction), I believe God has a purpose for us “wet organics” to adapt descriptions used in the article.
Are UFOs real? NASA holds much-anticipated public hearing - USA TODAY
Vague, inconclusive—perhaps because there is nothing to reveal. Still, public skepticism in general is at all-time high while UFO interest is cresting as well.
Aliens Are Already Here, Says Stanford Prof With CIA, Defense Ties.
Credible source. Harder to dismiss with videos/studies of recent years. What WILL sci-fi writers do if something irrefutable comes up? I know…today’s society has rendered “irrefutable” obsolete. 🙄
Bezos' Blue Origin wins NASA contract to build astronaut lunar lander
Inevitable Bezos would win after Musk’s modified Starship got first pick. Blue Origin lander works with Artemis since Orion capsule flies but doesn’t land. Starship will eventually be able to do entire mission with one craft. And yes, billionaires still make great writing prompts.
“On Thursday We Leave for Home.” Twilight Zone, 1963. My favorite of the hour-long episodes (Season 4). In my live study series, Christian Sci-Fi Night with Professor K, we watch classic and current sci-fi and discuss from a Christian worldview.
