It is a fact of life that cats take every chance they can to video bomb you during an important meeting. Let's just say #ApriCat video bombs on another level.
Just a quick update about Apricat. I had to give #Apricat to another fosterer as I couldn't manage her behavioral issues (she was aggressive, sadly). Her new foster parents specialise in rehabbing cats with behavioral issues, so I knew she was in better hands.
One of the hardest things to do as a cat foster parent is to recognise that you need to "give her up" to better caretakers who can help her, so I am so glad Apri is so happy where she is now. ❤️
I was thinking that I should've named #Apricat Kaypoh*
Here is she asking for trouble as she peeks over the stairs at my neighbour downstairs. (My neighbour doesn't know I keep a cat, and my apartment is cat phobic 😑
You don't walk a #Cat. You wait for a cat to walk you 😂.
New routine I am doing - at 630am, #Apricat and I will spend 30 minutes walking the apartment gardens. Most of the time we just stare at the view from the top of the hill. Then, it is back to the apartment for breakfast, and I leave for my morning walk at 730am. I am a morning lark & I find myself happy that I breathed in the morning air so early. Maybe I will enjoy this. 🙂
#Apricat after spending most of her life on the streets, inhales her food. She could finish her meal in 20 seconds. Fortunately, she hasn't ended up puking yet, but I needed to slow her down. So, I created a slow food feeder with an ice cube tray.
It is working like a charm. She complained initially, annoyed that she had to work for her food, but at least she now takes 2 minutes to finish her food instead of 20 seconds!
Seeing how unhappy #ApriCat has been, confined to my tiny apartment, longing for the outside, and spending most of the day alone (because I'm working), has made me rethink about how we approach pet ownership. Sometimes, animals are meant to wander, even if it means that their lives are shorter as a result.
What do you think?
Ps: Please no lectures about why we need to keep pets indoors 😅 I already know it!!

It broke my heart every time I found something that they had destroyed in the yard.. The dog run was my only solution. But like the current dog, they also got plenty of walks, so only being able to go into the dog run with supervision was doable for us. I recognize that's not true of everybody. And especially if you're in an apartment, you don't have an outside area where you can build #ApriCat an enclosure.
#Apricat has recovered nicely from her spaying and is also FIV and FLV negative! This is a relief. Already reclaiming my furniture (and me!) as her property.
Maybe my thoughts about cats being outside is influenced by the #cats I follow online - Pouncey, Golden Shaw Farms and Cinnabon. I really wasn't aware about the inside/outside #cat debate until I searched for advice on how to manage #Apricat. After research which includes talking to rescuers, I concluded that she needed more outside time than I can provide. I am 🙏 for a family with a nice, big orchard. She would be so happy hunting mice there!
Took #Apricat for a walk today. I hear about cats who are just satisfied with 20 minutes of a poke around the yard, or even those who prefer to lounge on the patio and never move.
It's been more than an hour and Apri shows zero signs of wanting to go back indoors 😅 I am tired lol
This is #ApriCat's super drama pose. She would flop dramatically on her side, sometimes her head hitting the floor with a thunk that I worry a little bit 😅 She would randomly do this, especially after killing a feather duster 😆
You would think that I would be the one with this pose because I spend at least 2-3 hours a day playing, chasing after her and giving her walkies 😆
#ApriCat seems to love her 30-40 min walks in the wee hours of the morning. And I enjoy them too as I use that time to read my RSS feeds or listen to podcasts. Apri has learned to follow me, sometimes looking back at me and meowing as if to ask me to follow 😆
Getting her back home is predictably hard, which is why I have a treat with me. I will open it and reward her with it as we head back. She has willingly followed me home today.
