My #autistic friend tells me that I am the only #neurotypical friend of hers who is willing to hear her out on why she does the way she does things without offering unsolicited advice or being judgmental about her lifestyle. Which is sad. We neurotypicals really need to do better.
Though I sometimes wonder if there is a good business case for "Neurotypicals explain weird neurotypical stuff to #neurodivergent people"... but nah. Someone else can tackle that one - I have enough on my plate as it is. 😉
If you need an idea of what is #hyposensibility and #hyperfocus when you are #autistic : I am a 44 y/o with no known issue of incontinence, and yet, I just shat myself because I was manipulating datas on Excel :blobPikaFacepaw:
“The Autism Books by Autistic Authors Project is an (ongoing) attempt to catalogue all books — non-fiction and fiction — written about and related to autism by Autistic authors.”
There are over 1,000 books catalogued! Including mine and other authors I see in my #actuallyautistic feed here on Mastodon.
As an #autistic user of your website, I'm working hard enough just to cope with reading your text. Please don't also make me cope with stuff that moves or slides or fades too. Just present me with a static, stable thing to parse in my own time. And don't have things that move or slide (eg. fancy navbars) when I move my pointer (which I may be doing as a reading aid).
Hmm, search and rescue fun today up in the mountains... (hear helicopters, sirens... and another day living near wilderness....) Sounds like someone got turned around and lost for a few hours. They're walking the subject out... #wilderness#SAR#SearchAndRescue#VenturaCouty
@ai6yr I see searchers are increasingly using drones with infrared. This was a nice outcome for an #autistic child and her family in Fla. recently (helicopter, not drone).
