In Brussels tomorrow the #EUOpenDay marks the start of #EuropeDay events, celebrating the values of #HumanRights and #democracy

Meanwhile, over the water in Medieval Fun Time Land, they're crowning a King! An awesome festival of pagentry costing a mere £125-£250 million (nobody knows!) Pledge allegiance! Adopt a dragon! Hey, we can't keep the lights on, but there's quiche for everyone!

A video with 6 facts about the European Commission: 1. Our headquarters are located in Brussels. Its main building, the Berlaymonth, was built in 1967. (Trivia: Did you notice that our logo represents a stylised image of the Berlaymont?) 2. To this day, there have been 13 Presidents of the European Commission. President Ursula von der Leyen has been in office since 2019. 3. Our College of Commissioners is composed of 27 members, one from each EU country, including the President and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. (Trivia: Ursual con der Leyen is the first woman in history to hold the position of President of the European Commission.) 4. Our President and college of Commissioners are appointed by their respective countries and elected by the Europan Parliament. (Trivia: Each September, the President of the European Commission delivers the State of the Union address to the European Parliament.) 5. Role: We promote the general interest of the EU by proposing and enforcing legislation as well as by implementing policies and the EU budget. 6. 24 official languages. The EU supports multilingualism in its programmes and in the work of its institutions. (Trivia: Our spokesperson's service organises press conferences, and briefings and is the main point of contact for media organisations.)
