This track has the classic line 'Jesus rides beside me / He never buys any smokes' Fell in love with this album when it came out and it's still the pinnacle of the 'mats for me.
Ohhh! I have a song of my own for this one!! The little black hatchback is an actual car, pictured in the album art, that was our beloved ride back in the day.

(C’mon, this qualifies - they just made a pun.)
This track is such a refreshing blast of #PowerPop - and look who’s here, guitar hero #DaveNavarro from already established #alternative darlings #JanesAddiction, and #RedHotChiliPeppers founding drummer, #JackIrons. So it’s no surprise that It was all over the radio in #Boston, and I recall proudly fishing a promo copy of “Only” out of the bin at one of the used #CD stores I frequented back in the day. (Off your moral high horse - I support artists now by buying, not streaming.) This was #Sun60’s second full-length release, and they’d go on to put out one more, but I challenge you to walk down the street today wherever you are and find one person who recognizes this band by name. This hooky, high energy #guitar rave up should be a classic, not a forgotten track on a forgotten album by a forgotten band.
I gotta be honest, I was kinda off Janet at this point. I liked "Control" and "Rhythm Nation 1814", as a teenager, but they were a little outside my normal range. As I watched fewer and fewer videos (mostly trying to avoid rap, which I was always deeply dubious about), I just didn't hear her as much. But I did try this album from the library, and taped a few songs, and this one has grown on me over the years. The subdued verses transitioning suddenly into the intense chorus, as her outrage bubbles over... It's really quite striking.
