Took the 15yr old dog out for a hike this morning. First half we walked old forest roads where the only challenge was a big downed pine blocking the way which he had to scale. On the way back we did some bushwhacking which started off lovely, almost like the forest floor was sculpted, but then we hit the normal snags and detritus. Lovely day for it.
I'd forgotten this. My sister's neighbor made a hole in their fence so the dog could look out and, presumably, get “good boy" scritches. #SunDog#DogsOfMastodon#woodwork
Parhélie du jour, bonjour ! J'ai pu l'observer durant ma pause repas du côté d'Hafnarfjörður. 30 minutes plus tard, elle se métamorphosa en un halo qui dura 2 bonnes heures. :yotsuba_pleased:
I saw a pretty cool light phenomenon as the sun was rising this morning. Would you call the brighter spot on top of the sun pillar a #SunDog ? I understand the ones formed horisontally are called that. #Halo#Astrophotograhy#nature
#ArtAdventCalendar Day 19 this was taken a couple of days before the Solstice, but the #sun#WinterLight is a major focus for many weeks over winter (okay, maybe I'm always obsessed with light-not so much pure blinding sun, but the effects as she lowers, peeks out through trees and clouds, etc!). Here it was mid afternoon, just a couple of hours from sunset, a little below freezing (well above average!) with sun and sun dog! #WinterPictures#Alberta#CountryLiving#SunDog#snow#December
Gigi is incapable of simply stepping down that final stair. The ones above it? No problem. At the bottom? Run back and forth for a minute, then FLING herself out into space. She makes this so unnecessarily difficult. #DogsOfMastodon#Sundog
Driving home earlier this evening and caught this absolutely WILD #rainbow or possible #sundog that formed on the west face of the #Sacramento#Mountains in #NewMexico over Alamogordo underneath a thunderstorm on the mountain.
I believe that white dust is from White Sands National Park, which is to my left in this photograph. It seems to be reflected off of that. Wind was high.
