Berlin’s culture, history and people make it an ideal place to live.

However, there’s one quirky obstacle: the German aversion to Durchzug (drafts).

I love fresh air, but many Germans, especially older generations, believe drafts cause illnesses like colds or a stiff neck.

This results is windows being shut even when it’s sweltering inside, and a reluctance to use air conditioning or fans.

WHO Overturns Dogma on Airborne Disease Spread. The CDC Might Not Act on It.

https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/infectioncontrol/109934?xid=nl_mpt_DHE_2024-05-05&eun=g2199647d0r

This important news even if most people that care already new it. It’s important on the face of it, it’s important the WHO is acknowledging it (again), AND it’s important that the CDC still won’t admit it.

Masks work. Indoor fresh-air ventilation works. The US Gov’t says, “Your job is to keep shopping…nothing to see here.”

People are DYING here.

A wild interview about the (USA) history of cars and women, with the author Nancy Nichols. Her book is Women Behind the Wheel: An Unexpected and Personal History of the Car.

Definitely the 1950s 'mans world' of cars is STILL (kinda) here in the 2020s

10/7🚨destroyed an assumption, long cultivated by Hamas’s backers such as Turkey & Qatar, Hamas somehow moderated its original ideology...

"Qatar has been an impt. partner for the US & Doha asserts -doesn't support Hamas but supports the people of Gaza. The pol leadership of an org that conducted an attack on the scale of 9/11 operates from Doha. If this were 9/12/2001, what'd the world demand from a country... Doha should expel Hamas officials-." -N Roule

The ideal way to write an essay, for me, is to dictate it while on a long hike. You can't beat fresh air and exercise versus sitting at a desk.

I've rarely managed the trick, because it feels awkward to dictate and because it's hard to have all the necessary context in my head.

But when it works, as it did tonight, it feels wonderful!

This is my favorite Maurice Sendak story. I, too, aspire to make things people rush to eat.
