We have a beloved neighbor who has terminal cancer. Tomorrow is her last birthday. She is a Dr. Who fan, so my spouse made this for her.

I've been hard misgendered more in the past week than I have in a long time. I think it's because my hair is long enough and unruly enough that it's gone from "hip dyke" to "eccentric man".

That, and bc I've basically given up on all that voice work I did, bc fuck gendered voice expectations.

And yeah,

SrRochardBunson,

@jvw 💔 I'm sorry to hear that.

and gendered voice expectations!

A year ago yesterday I had a large cancer removed along with two thirds of my right lung. A long year and some chemo later, I'm still recovering, and the show goes on :)

IN OTHER NEWS

has done a number on my stomach. at one point, i felt like i could breathe fire like a dragon. the reflux was so horrendous that it affected my whole gut & intestines, so i was going almost every 15, 30 minutes to the bathroom, even if i just drank water.

so my MD gave me a generic magical thing called Omeprazole DR. today i finally took it and... i feel weird: it's the first time in forever i have not been in any stomach related pain.

today's a & win

Dr appt went well. Waiting on labs, so I log into the charting system. "Are you here yet?" It asks me. Uhhh. I was just there. I look more carefully. They scheduled a procedure literally while I was at the dr office and didn't tell me. How do you schedule a procedure with no warning to the patient? FFS
I mean, I am getting great care, but the schedulers are just on a completely different planet from the rest of reality. Whoa.

what will it take for Americans to treat as a Human Right and not a commodity?

someone cancelled my and didn't think to tell me. what's worse? the hospital doesn't have a protocol for dealing with these kinds of screw ups beyond a 'sorry.'

it's not the in-take clerk's fault that i had to demand they pay for my ride back home because i cannot take mass transit as a patient. it's the job of the administration to foresee these errors and have a contingency plan. /1

Hello, friends!

Next Wednesday, I start chemo. I'll be getting dosed every 2 weeks for the next 6 months, after which time we'll reevaluate for surgery and if it's desired, 2 months later I'll have surgery which will take about 3 months to recover from. Oof.

What this means is I am not going to be able to continue my travels meanwhile!

So I need your help!

I need to travel vicariously through you!

I need you to send me postcards! Lots of them!

DM me for address and plz boost

Correlation is not causation. Say it with me, people. Correlation is not causation. The COVID vaccine didn't give you cancer. Correlation is not causation. I'm sorry you were diagnosed with cancer two years to the day after your vaccination. Correlation is not causation.

wondering why it's 4:30am & am wide awake.

THE STEROIDS.

chemo is chemical warfare on cancer. to not kill you, you need a huge dose of immunotherapy, antihistamines and steroids.

was told this was gonna happen. which sucks because my autistic ass has given me a lifetime of insomnia. if it isn't related to PMS, then it's right before a major event. doesn't matter if am the main character or NPC. stress gives me insomnia.

so am having breakfast. might as well.

but no coffee.

blogdiva,
@blogdiva@mastodon.social avatar

Y’ALL
woke up about an hour ago.

nobody tells you that chemo is a more of a 2½ day affair: preparing your hair, food and bag the day before; the day of chemo; the sleeping day after.

how do people manage with full-time jobs away from home? or people who live far away from their hospitals?

am not that lucky. my income is almost nil, so i can live in a place where i can have health care & no car. but also car-centric living & no guaranteed labor rights in this American dystopia.
