Rupert Deering (Timberseed) posted this on LinkedIn:

If you’re trying to pay your grads less than £25k, just know they don’t care about:

-free snacks
-office gyms
-a day off for your birthday

They care about whether they can pay their rent or not.

Stop underpaying your grads!

Its a stark message but hits the nail right on the head!

A moving moment at a convocation ceremony of graduates of Montreal's Concordia University this year. The students turned around to thank family and friends for their support.

More on the Q. of -based vs. qualification-based employment:

There remains a significant but falling premium for UK , in part be due to access to the whose degree requirements remain pretty robust.

However, its also worth noting that non-degree employment seems to be shifting into high(er) skills, albeit at a gradual rate (replacing 'over-qualified' graduates?).

Does a slow shift to highly skilled non-degree holders indicate the success of ?

Chart: Young non-graduate have record-high rates of high skill employment. UK non-graduates aged 21-30 High skill employment rate, after falling from 20% in 2007 to around 15% (2012), raises to over 20% after Apprenticship levy introduced in 2017; Unemployment for this group, raises from 7% in same period to 13% but now dropped to around 5%

OK friends I'm too delighted not to share this picture - and boast these people.

On the left, Rosalia Badhorse (Northern Cheyenne) earned her MA in Native American Languages from our program.

On the right, Regents Professor Ofelia Zepeda (Tohono O'odham), my teacher, colleague and friend.

You all. I got to be Rosalia's advisor. Her thesis was absolutely brilliant.

Ofelia was (appropriately) her choice to hood her at graduation ❤️
