if you can find it, downtown #Halifax parking was $3.95 an hour? Is that right? And only valid for 1 hour but we spent 3 hours in the line up. it cost me $11 to do business there. Services Canada really needs a second satellite office. Full service in Bedford perhaps?
Anyway. Whole day gone. Cellular wasn't good so messages sometimes didn't refresh.
I did snag more Nectarines and some Yellow Plums.. (I need the seeds) , first time we got a chance to pop in to Gateway on the way back.
So, I gave up on the painful narrative I had finger poked onto my phone, and here's a meme for you instead..
I've got to go to an office downtown today.
Other than for Healthcare, it's been more than a year since I went downtown #Halifax. maybe longer.
I pass dozens of food places before downtown. Shopping districts with ample parking, exit ramps off 4 lane highways to shop.
Downtown is bumper-to-bumper confusion
The sheer spite of locking away park benches, all to just drive the homeless a couple of dozen metres south to provincial owned land, make them their problem.
#Halifax City Council and Halifax Mayor Savage are cruel people who have fashioned a cruel city under their tenure.
I can tell you from personal experience how cold it gets in the wee hours trying to sleep rough. Minutes pass like hours, like they do when you're in a lot of pain.
Meanwhile in #Halifax, this is Victoria Park, courtesy of the outgoing Council.
As you may recall, the park's currently Protection of Property Act posted so presence of the public in the public-owned park is now a crime subject to arrest and a fine, which is at the sole discretion of HRM authorities.
Here an industrial dumpster blocks a main path people use and really gives a good seated view as well as showing complete contempt for the belongings of the poor.
Today's eviction day for the homeless in #Halifax public spaces.
I was there the last time. I saw the police pepper spray innocent children passing by and hold hostages to force compliance. It was ugly and brutal and felt like a piece of the future.
The city unquestioningly would want that again except for all the negative publicity it created. Armed goons pepper spraying children was a bad look.
What I know is hitting down is the strategy of bad people, the ones nobody should ever trust.
BESIDES #Halifax not being a departure point for a #Cruise , (Fly to a departure city & probably visit Halifax as the next port of call?), there's Virus & Bacteria taking vacations with you.
But #eew in the drinking water?
A new #initiative for #BlackBusinessOwners and aspiring #entrepreneurs is set to open its doors in #Halifax. As Amber Fryday reports, one local fashion designer says he can’t contain his excitement for the possibilities it could bring to the city.
Fender benders and idiots cursing at each other and so far it's just a little black ice in the city core.
I was nearly clocked as a pedestrian by some twit doing that aggressive crosswalk thing where they don't stop driving towards you as you cross but the ice sped her up so she would have hit me except I'd been snow walking so when I went to move I had the traction she didn't.
Places in #Halifax are closing early tomorrow. We're expecting this overnight rain to Flash Freeze and stop all traffic, and keep me locked out of my vehicles in a sheet of ice.. I should cover the windshield in the morning.
The 5.7-hectare parcel of land, located between Almon & Young Streets is currently home to a one-level sorting and mail distribution facility. It has been identified by the city as being "strategically positioned for significant density."
Instead of hiding behind a wall of cobblestone, as in decades past, #MahoneBay is raising a shield of saltgrass, Prairie cordgrass, sweetgrass, seaside goldenrod, salt meadow hay, and more.
“What we’re looking for are species that occur naturally in salt marsh ecosystems,” said Jordan Veinot, #ClimateChange team lead with Coastal Action, an #environmental non-profit leading Mahone Bay’s living shoreline project.
There is a local "friends of downtown" group petitioning against encampments and lobbying for more parking and removal of protected bike lanes, and this is their "leadership" page. https://friendsofdowntownhalifax.ca/leadership/
Sue Uteck's new role spearheading the Fuck The Poor They Can Go Be Poor Somewhere Else movement in Halifax as head of the Spring Garden Road business association has gained her a following amongst the rage-ridden proles looking to establish they are not the ones on the bottom needing purging like those other people they can't abide.
It's almost certainly political opportunism on her part to cash in on the new fascist winds rising from the west.
