#PoliticalCartoons are great. One of my favorite mediums out there. They can help us take the pulse of the moment in a lot of ways.
At this moment one thing they're missing is that in all their coverage of #Putin and #Putin and #Trump is that Putin is, at his core, a weak, cowardly and altogether incompetent jack ass.
They get the murderous despot and manipulator of weak minded fools right. But they miss you bigger picture of WHY Putin behaves as he does.
#Putin didn't just want #Trump as an asset because Trump was manipulatable.
He likely didn't even think Trump could beat #Hillary in 2016.
He wanted Trump to create chaos and distrust to destabilize President Hillary #Clinton BECAUSE HE WAS TERRIFIED OF HER and because he was convinced she was behind a plot to depose him BY COUP.
The media breathlessly reporting #Hur's smear of #Biden while ignoring #Trump's descent into dementia is a stark illustration of why they need to be, but aren't, following @jayrosen_nyu's rule for modern political coverage: "Not the odds, but the stakes."
They ignore Trump's lying, threats, and insanity because it's not news, because it's not new.
Their insistence on covering what's novel instead of what's important is endangering democracy.

Both #Hillary smear and #Project2025 are attacks on America. That NYT gave the former so much oxygen while suppressing the latter shows that it willingly participated in the attack then and continues to do so now.
Thousands of people voted for Nader in 2000 as a protest vote because "Gore is going to win my state anyway" or "my vote doesn't matter" or "the two parties are the same."
Millions of people voted for #Brexit as a "protest vote" because Brexit wasn't going to win anyway.
James Comey knew that #Hillary was going to win given the polls and so his email story wasn't going to matter anyway.
Stop thinking your protest vote won't matter. Damnit. #USPoll
