Okay, so has a theme of .

This is the perfect time to remind everyone of that time in 2004 when and dropped their collaborative album Collision Course that mixed up some of their hits to create something different and new.

If you never listened to it and like either artist, do yourself a favor and do so. https://songwhip.com/jayz2/collisioncourse

I’ve been working at the Jay-Z exhibition at the Brooklyn Public Library for the past 4 months. More than 600,000 people have attended the free exhibition. We’re now in the final week of the exhibition and, as expected, attendance has increased greatly in these last days. I’ve been surprised by all the celebrities who have attended recently. Just in the past few days, I helped do private tours for Kevin Durant (who is crazy tall), Devin Booker, and Travis Scott.

It's the 20th anniversary of Jay-Z's Black Album and while it's an iconic record, I much prefer The Grey Album where Danger Mouse mashed up the Hov acapellas with the Beatles White Album and resequenced it. It's still got bars for days but instead has gorgeously pyschedelic beats and the ghosts of the Beatles threaded throughout https://archive.org/details/DjDangerMouse-TheGreyAlbum

So 's theme is .

So, let's do both?

First the rain with "Umbrella" by Rhianna featuring Jay-Z https://songwhip.com/rihanna/umbrella

Then with the shine, let's go with They Might Be Giants teaching us how the sun actually shines with "Why Does The Sun Shine?" First with the original version: https://songwhip.com/they-might-be-giants/why-does-the-sun-shine-the-sun-is-a-mass-of-incandescent-gas

Then with the update about how the sun is, in fact, made of plasma: https://songwhip.com/they-might-be-giants/why-does-the-sun-really-shine-the-sun-is-a-miasma-of-incandescent-plasma

Okay, so hosted by @Kitty has a theme this week of from @The_KamikaZEN. The idea is songs that make you feel pumped emotionally or mentally.

Oh my!

I listen to a lot of high energy music, so there's a lot of things that can fit the bill for this theme. So, let's give a few examples.

Number 1 - it's Dreamcatcher's "In the Frozen." https://songwhip.com/dreamcatcher/in-the-frozen

It's not a new song, but the hype when the drop happens is so real. I can't.

And for my third, let's go with Hova himself with Jay-Z's "Encore"

In fact, I like it so uch we'll drop it twice. First the original: https://songwhip.com/jayz2/encore2003

Second, the remix / remake done with Linkin Park: https://songwhip.com/jayz2/numb-encore

Host / Theme: @Kitty @The_KamikaZEN

Happy 50th birthday, hip-hop!

I went digging through my old photos and videos, and here's some of my (often blurry) favorite moments in honor of the day.

  1. Me with Slick Rick at Amoeba Hollywood, April 2019.

  2. Me at the NAS concert at the NorVa, Norfolk, VA, November 2012. Credit: djlilysdad.

Okay, Day 2 of these artist polls.

Which of the following different musical artists has the greatest "albums per year" ratio? As with yesterday's poll, I mean, the number of full length studio albums (excluding live albums, collabs, or compilations) recorded over the number of years they have been or were actively a recording artist or band.

Vote now!

The ratios will be posted tomorrow after the new poll is closed.

This was an interesting one for me. BoA is less well known to non-K-Pop fans, but is incredibly prolific with Korean, English, and Japanese language albums.

James Brown, Jay-Z, Willie Nelson, and Sabbath all are known to have released a lot of albums.

Please vote your guess! The actual current highest album / year artist of the mix will be revealed tomorrow.

Hey all - thank you to everyone who voted. Based on the poll - you think that Black Sabbath is the one with the highest album per year ratio...well, here's the actual numbers.

James Brown - 1.3
Willie Nelson - 1.1
BoA - 0.9
Jay-Z - 0.48
Black Sabbath - 0.46

Even excluding live albums and collabs - Willie Nelson & James Brown have released a ridiculous number of albums over the period where they were actively producing music averaging at more than one a year!

Thanks for voting / guessing!
