"The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer discusses 'Georgia on My Mind'—and the highly improbable pairing and production that gave birth to Willie’s quintuple-platinum masterpiece."
Kicks of with rockin' Bobby McGee w/almost some #GratefulDead style jamming. Some ballads here as well. Great playing, performances and production. An excellent album.
Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson have announced that they will tour together this summer, with guest stars including Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, John Mellencamp, and Billy Strings at select dates. Here's more from Consequence, plus how to get tickets.
related to the above (which might also be the earliest/fullest circulating live willie nelson show?): are there any amazing/detailed bios of willie that really get into details about sessions, etc.? obsessive fan resources? haven't read any of his memoirs, but looking more for granular detail. preliminary searching not turning up much. #WillieNelson

Nelson is really old. All the songs are his own (for some I didn’t know that they’re his), 50 to 60 years old. The songs, not Nelson
Fun fact: I remembered “A good hearted woman” with a female voice. Turns out, I was thinking of Tina Turner's version https://youtu.be/tK0KQNZOLLU (recorded 1988).
Willie Nelson released his 74th studio album today, and it's sooo good. It's called Bluegrass, and it's him with (essentially) Allison Krauss' band, playing bluegrass versions of 12 of his songs.
a lovely evening with a #GratefulDead in #queens, #BobWeir & the wolf bros. at the forest hills tennis stadium. weir soloed his way through everything, sorta startling. mickey raphael from willie nelson's band on harmonica for a few, including "blue eyes crying in the rain." was feeling the set, including chaotic "estimated prophet" jam, until weir went into "lovelight," now & forever a set killer for me, though weir now has a band that will stop when he tries the "nowwaitaminute" move.
#WillieNelson in #queens, a goddamn global treasure. #NorahJones on piano/vocals for whole set (one night only?), a great addition, pulling out the latent #jazz. killer solos/colorings from willie, maybe slightly less graceful than he once was, sometimes slashing at trigger with almost keef-like insouciance. knocked out by his drummer playing literally only a single snare. amazing to get to see the actual president in person.
“In 1969, while staying at the Fort Worther Motel in Fort Worth, Texas, Jennings was inspired to start writing the song when he saw advertising on a newspaper promoting Tina Turner as a "good hearted woman loving a two-timing man", a reference to Ike Turner.”
