After two months of using I am very happy that I chose this solution.

Integration with SSH agent and global hot key are things I use the most.

has some issues with fingerprint unlock on some Android Samsung devices, it is less convenient that way, but this makes it safer to use 😜 (or I think so)

I currently use the Chrome browser almost exclusively. I would like to experiment with Firefox and other potential alternatives. However, my reliance on Google's password and payment-info management is a barrier. Whatever one might think about Google, they are very good at security and cross-device data sync, which are both must-haves for these functions. And events like the LastPass data breach make me justifiably paranoid.

What solutions are others using, and why?

@isomeme I use on desktop and you can pair it up with (iOS) or (Android) on mobile. Offline solutions works best since cloud services can't be trusted as you well know.

What is your favourite app? Would be interested if I can discover a few new cool apps, I missed until now. Thank you already for sharing! @fdroid

@kirschner for Podcasts, for Mastodon and Fediverse, for my daily radio needs, for , the recent version of for learning via flash cards, for media management. as a simple yet nice looking audio player. as an simple alternative to the mighty . for my video streaming needs (even though is a very fine alternative when it exclusively comes to ), for taking notes, as password manager. to get stuff synchronized, as email client. for my RSS feed needs. And finally the still new client allowing automatic updates of installed apps.

Recently tried out messenger and like it quite a bit so far. @fdroid

If I were to set my grandparents up with a password manager, which should I look at? My current leaning is bitwarden.

(I figure my preferred https://passwordstore.org wouldn't fit the bill.)

I've found to be excellent, @benjaminhollon.

, actively maintained and updated, good UX and many features.

Has a browser integration package too, for Firefox and Chrome-based browsers.

And for Android, works with the same database, so get a way to sync the file between devices and you're golden.

Personally, I can recommend https://www.enpass.io for password managment since it runs on , , , and even .

It just runs great and doesn't force people into some cloud subscription nor charges extra for self-hosting.

If you don't need multi-platform support, you may want to take a look at & for Android and Linux resprectably...

https://github.com/GrapheneOS/platform_external_seedvault

secure4edit,

I landed on KeePass as my password manager in the end. I'm using (GNOME) Secrets and KeePassXC on my computer and KeePassDX on my phone. The reason was simply that I found a way to move stuff into folders with Secrets and I like KeePass' local-first approach. Also, having a GNOME client is smth I appreciate :p

I haven't decided yet on a method for synchronising between my devices tho. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open. Lower complexity is better, p2p is preferred, automatic conflic resolution would be great.

Another nail in the coffin: is forcibly adding telemetry. https://blog.1password.com/privacy-preserving-app-telemetry/

Hacker News comments: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35691383

Like I said, it's best to rely on a completely offline password managing experience. are your best options at this point.
