@libretube all of a sudden nothing is playing for me. I tried changing instances and also did a reinstall. It shows buffering which stops in a few seconds but nothing plays.
@libretube that setting says:
"Use HLS instead of DASH (will be slower, not recommended)"
I'm am Android user, yet can stream NO YouTube videos (none at all) without this setting: surely DASH should be more flexible than HLS? Any literature on this recent change specific to #libretube ?
Note to self: HLS(HTTP Live Streaming) is Apple’s streaming protocol, A key difference between HLS and MPEG-DASH is that DASH is codec agnostic.

I just unintentionally installed (and promptly uninstalled) an app from an ad plastered on YouTube. App installation thru an ad, ffs.
So I just got #LibreTube. As soon as I'm able to export my playlists, YouTube will get the ax.
Initial LibreTube impressions, it's almost perfect. YouTube w/o the annoyances. Doesn't need an account so you have to import links to access your old playlists and videos. Has location-based trending videos as well. Controls are familiar with Android video players.

Elle se charge dix fois plus vite que l'interface web de YouTube.
C'est gratuit, ça marche sous Windows, Linux et Mac.
Ah oui... et ça intègre SponsorBlock pour bloquer les publicités (même les parties promotionnelles des vidéos !). Il suffit d'activer l'option dans les paramètres.
Et pensez à passer l'application en français (elle est en anglais par défaut).
Got an update for LibreTube from F-Droid the other day, so I can finally use it again. One upside of having it not work for a while, is that I gave NewPipe another go. It's improved a lot since the legacy version I used to use on my old Android.
Anything to avoid using SpewTube's default apps. Every time I see someone using them, I also see a flood of ads, of biblical proportions.
Still hoping for a mass exodus of vloggers to PeerTube...
Recently i've been experimenting on moving my #youtube usage to #piped, didn't expect the swap to be this smooth, i mean it isn't perfect, it's pretty sad that the only fitting android app i found (#libretube) is having problems running 60fps videos here, but watching stuff on 720p ain't that bad, Not having bookmarked playlists in sync with the account is pretty sad too (hope that gets implemented in the future) but even with these little issues and some others the pros are still outweighing the cons for now
Not having youtube's algorithm on my face feels nice, having youtube to be kinda like mastodon and the fediverse (i mean like, in the having basically no algorithm sense and all that) is really cool

If you've experienced videos not loading recently,
It's because of recent YouTube changes, Piped's video proxies are facing IP bans, causing playback issues. You can temporarily resolve this by going to settings -> audio and video -> disabling piped proxy.
(Keep in mind, by doing this, your IP address becomes visible to YouTube servers. We highly recommend using a VPN)
Anyone here have any experience with #GrapheneOS? I'm in need of a new phone, and I'm kinda considering getting a #Pixel7 or #Pixel7a and flashing Graphene, but I have some questions.
Can you game on it? lol I mostly play #emulators, not many #Android games (though I do get down on some of the #NetflixGames). I know the Pixel's chipset should be able to handle up through some PS2 and Gamecube, which is def enough for me, but if it can handle some Yuzu and/or Vita3K, that would be rad. Just curious if that all works within Graphene's sandboxing and if there are any performance issues.
How does the sandboxed Play Services work? Do you install it, then have to give specific apps permission to access Play Services? How much can you lock down Google apps, like Google Camera, Google Maps, etc., if I choose to use those over the stock/FOSS options? I'll probably go #FOSS like I usually do, but it never hurts to have options.
I've messed with custom roms a fair bit, but not a specifically privacy/security-oriented one like Graphene. Is there anything that someone coming from a relatively vanilla AOSP experience would find jarring or unexpected?
I use #Spotify via #xmanager currently. Does anyone on Graphene currently use this? Does it work as expected?

@ADHDefy also the best things about some #foss apps is that if i wanna switch to another app, i can export my settings, like if i have some channel subscriptions on my #freetube desktop, I can export & import it to my #libretube android, and they are completely different projects. they just kinda support and be compatible with each other. 😺
