That has almost exactly the same layout as the . How strange.

... to my Keyboard! Thirty years old and still working well.

It is starting to show its age and the right Ctrl key no longer works. But it has outlasted a few computers and monitors so far.

I popped all the key caps off two years ago and gave them a thorough cleaning.

I was fortunate to find this keyboard in a computer junk pile at about 20 years ago.

Data sticker on the bottom of an IBM ModelM Keyboard. Manufacture date was December 8, 1993.

TIL that the original IBM PC keyboard had a pencil tray along the top where today's full-size keyboards have the F-Keys. (The F-Keys were at the left of the keyboard, vertical)

mkj,

@uliwitness You don't need to go that far back even. For example, see this 1995 keyboard model which evolved from that Model F.

(Yes, that was before Microsoft trademark branded keys became widespread.)

I wonder who of you 2000' nerds can still identify this iconic just by looking at its insides. :p

@Natanox @mordquist @datacop @senhara yeah...

that sucks...

Reminds me of my biggest Keyboard mistake of ever giving away a 134+ key keyboard kinda like the [ but with not only 24 F- but 12 PF- keys because it had a big DIN connector!

@tobleh @ami_angelwings

Actually the was the one that standardized the layout, the was designed to be a cheaper-to-produce successor product by using buckling springs on rubberdomes instead of leaf springs.

Needless to say invested a lot money and personnel hours into the original design...

I found the perfect idea for a :

A 100% (122+ keys) board where EVER KEY HAS A DIFFERENT SWITCH!

Force someone to type on that and they'll go completely nuts on hot it fucks with their mind...

This is tech sadism that makes even the most tough people call me a monster!

@jennzycos well, that's the problem:

"" ain't a "Mechanical " but actually just a mechanized ...
