Climate-related disasters in Nagaland have seen a 200% increase from 2018 to 2021, according to the Nagaland Disaster Statistics 2023. The report highlights the grave implications of climate change on agriculture and calls for resilient farming practices
1.2 crore MGNREGS workers will not be paid because they are not on Aadhaar-based wage system
The fourth extension for mandatory payments under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme via Aadhaar Based Payments System ends on August 31. As the numbers stand, out of the total 26 crore job card holders, 41.1% are still not eligible for this mode of payment. The Ministry of Rural Development has ruled out any more extensions, arguing that among the active workers, only 18.3% are ineligible.
What we eat. Michinga patta (Ivy-rue leaves), Solanum, Alocasia fornicata, dried Colocasia roots, dried Nattos, Mexican coriander (bahkhawr), ghost pepper (or bhut jolokia), and bamboo shoots. There’s a couple of shops now that sell these - delivered 24 hours via direct flights that reach various metros. Locals have developed a taste for some of them too.
For #SilentSunday, this tiny room in the extreme corner of a home stay in Nagaland. The host told me that it was the U.S. Ambassador (to India’s) favorite room. As in, “Please don’t give ‘my room’ to anyone.” Says a lot about her character IMHO. Seems she was a regular visitor to #Nagaland - more so, around February during the festive season. The view from the window was all clouds during the morning - certainly not for people with nasal problems.
This soldier from Etawah and his dog - somewhere in the #India and #Myanmar border. Told me that his superiors permitted him to take it with him from #Nagaland.
#Nagaland’s insurgency is one of the longest and bloodiest standing insurgencies (since 1921) - one that has existed longer than the #Kashmir#insurgency. In this house - now converted to a home stay - is where the Naga aspiration was also officially declared. Pic 3 - those are bullet holes.
Location: #Kohima Village - a village within Kohima city.
Used the XT30’s built in ‘filter’ for the 1st time on this one and it came out quite well. That’s a Baptist church. There’s more American churches in Nagaland than there are in #Mizoram. Personally detest the Prosperity gospel taught by most American churches - leads you to being a Christian for namesake. Glad the #Welsh missionaries reached our (Mizoram) shores and not Americans.
Apologies for going off tangent from the main post - #Photography :D
