I went through the whole Altador plot on #Neopets with a guide, and even with a guide it was pretty BS haha. It must have been an enormous pain in the butt to figure out back when it was first available.
My least favorite part was anything that involved clicking on every single window in the coliseum to find the "punch club", which I had to do twice (with one of the two times involving me brute forcing a combination.)
At least the task that involved checking in every minute and doing an action for 10 consecutive minutes was a good way to kill time during a meeting.
I think playing Animal Crossing: Wild World recently changed my perspective on #Neopets and made it more appealing. The site does seem designed to get you to load a lot of pages every day (and consequently see a lot of ads) but with an ad blocker I find it easy to ignore that.
Animal Crossing has its own daily/scheduled/random events, and daily things you should do like pulling weeds, and I realized doing daily Neopets events is kind of like that. I actually really like https://www.jellyneo.net/?go=mysterious_negg_cave even though it's simple.
One of my challenges for Neopets was to enter an art contest. I was just going to scribble something but my friends said it would be funny to put all of my effort into it... I spent 3 hours on this. I'm 25.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the happiness—or even the existence—of a trillion trillion trillion simulated beings some time in the future is not worth the life of even a single real, flesh-and-blood person who is alive today.
Hell, square the number of future beings a trillion times, for that matter. There’s no number where that math pencils out.
As much as I like Ruffle, I really gotta say I'm disappointed it took flash shutting down for development on flash emulators to even kick into proper gear.
In a proper world, Adobe should have been made to develop an official flash emulator before ending support.
I'd not really heard anything about #Neopets since shortly after the announcement of NFTs a while back when I re-dropped the game after laughing at the bullshit.
Today I see a Kira video which mentions the NFT project ending. I see in the comments that the site is actually making a real good turn instead of languishing like it has been for years. Seems the head of the NFT project bought the whole company, but is dropping the NFTs.
So Neopets was run by Scientology
"The site [...] elicits nostalgia for people who grew up online in the early 2000s — a colorful safe haven where kids learned how to code, spell, and do math while taking care of adorable virtual pets. But underneath Neopia’s rainbow-streaked fictional world was an open secret: for at least five years, the company employed business practices directly connected to the Church of Scientology." https://theoutline.com/post/4190/neopets-was-run-by-scientologists #nostalgia#neopets
I can never resist fresh #Neopets#HobbyDramahttps://bit.ly/3NWfepa The user base wholly rejected the idea of turning Neopets into NTFs and yet one of the original creators keeps trying to shill crypto to them :lul_lmao:
