Hi everyone! It's ALTA here - the Australasian Language Technology Association.

We run an @aclmeeting - aligned workshop in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand every year, focused on #nlp #NaturalLanguageProcessing.

This year's workshop will be held at @ANUResearch in the beautiful city of #Canberra #CBR on #Ngunnawal land, in early December 2024.

We're a pretty friendly and easy going bunch of folks - and we'd love to connect!

I research #typeTheory , #logic , #proofTheory and a little #categoryTheory , and teach an intro to programming class in #Haskell . Sometimes I post about work; when I'm busy at work I'm more likely to post about #books , my #labradoodle , and other pleasant distractions

NSW Government is considering a train line from Canberra/Queanbeyan to Eden via Cooma and Bombala. Over the next 20 years. Just in time for Net Zero. But also 140 years after my Great Grandfather proposed the same.

Here’s my #introduction, better later than never! Born in #GenX and I live on unceded #Ngunnawal land in #Canberra, #Australia. I have two teenagers, a husband, and a cat called Bluebell. After more than a decade as a SAHM I now work as an administrator for a company that manages the environmental upkeep of Defence bases. I still feel like the work experience kid and find I don’t have time for much else besides work and housework any more. Wish I could get back into #drawing, #craft or #photography (something creative!) but I’m happy to enjoy the endeavours of others. I love watching good quality tv and movies, having a laugh or playing Just Dance with the kids, and going for walks in #nature or exploring new cities with my family. Got to #travel a fair bit pre-pandemic, saw a lot of Asia, never got to South America, wouldn’t mind getting back over to Europe some day.
I read plenty of #books (mostly #LiteraryFiction) including #audiobooks on my commute. I’m trying to learn to speak #French with Duolingo but finding it hard to progress despite my 1473+ day streak (I really don’t practice enough).
I’m also interested in #science, #space, #art, #culture, #history and #auspol.
