The magnificent view from the top of the 613ft or 187m high North Berwick Law in East Lothian, looking north over North Berwick and the Firth of Forth towards Fife. Since 2008 the whalebone arch has been made of fibreglass. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/northberwick/northberwicklaw/index.html
Today I discovered: #EastLothian is home to #Scotland's first ever #vinyl pressing plant! Dave & Dominique Harvey, the #NorthBerwick -based owners of #SeabassVinyl want their #Macmerry plant to be as sustainable as possible, using wind power and with plans to install solar panels and a battery system for energy storage.
In East Lothian so we decided to follow the Berwicklaw run - harbour to the top and the coffee and cake in the steampunk cafe (https://www.steampunkcoffee.co.uk).
We’ve never done the race but it’s tuff and the gale at the top required good hands on the rocks.
5k - windy, dry and steep. Coffee was great though.
Here's my 1st completed #painting for some weeks: "A Northerly breeze". It shows a northern #gannet floating on the air near its nesting colony at #BassRock, near #NorthBerwick.
We visited Bass Rock last week. It's magical being so close to these huge, glorious seabirds!
I have painted the #gannets in context with choppy waves & cloudy skies & tried to express the effortlessness & speed of just hanging on the breeze.
