Up-potted some pink, purple, and violet salvias and vegetables on this fine Wednesday evening. Yes I planted too many, and now I plan to give several away to neighbors. The cost of plants at gardening stores and big boxes is way too damn high, and I love making these little plants for people.
#Salvia elegans 'Scarlet Tangerine'. One of the plants I really regret losing when a late spring frost scorched us two years ago. Its common name is pineapple sage and the leaves smell distinctly like pineapple plus mint. The tea is fantastic. Hummingbirds love the flowers. This cultivar is somewhat compact and blooms profusely from midsummer on.
#Salvia#involucrata#Hadspen at the entrance to the #stumpery . I normally grow from seed but this plant was bought last October, overwintered in the greenhouse and planted out this May.
Isn’t it #beautiful ?

Winter garden is on my mind because its stars -- like these #hellebores -- are looking so jolly now. Here with #salvia, #dianthus and the David Austin Crocus rose.
Self-seeded Sorrel and planted Salvia nemorosa 'Ostfriesland'. Could not be better if I had planned it. Nature has created a perfect colour scheme again.

Clever little Salvia. Provide a nice big landing pad for the bumblebee, make it dive deep into the flower to get the nectar, then hook over and deposit pollen on the bee's head.
