"Today Ukrainians do not speak about 'after the war;' they speak about 'after the victory'—пiсля перемоги (pislya peremohy). 'Peremoha'— Polish theater director Krzysztof Czyżewski suggested—should become part of a new universal vocabulary. The prefix pere indicates a crossing and moha means 'I can.' Peremoha—'victory'—literally expresses a going beyond what one is able to do."
Oh yea, it's Jukebox Friday Night (in the afternoon). The theme is apparently "Transcendence" / "Lose Yourself" - or to quote, "uplifting, joyous & otherworldly tunes..."
"If you ever needed a real love
I'm here to give it to ya
Ain't it funny, I got on all my clothes
And I can still sing, representin', hey, hey
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yes"
Was listening to this new album, Holes of Sinian by 33EMYBW, and there was a song which I thought maybe fitted the #JukeboxFridayNight#Transcendence theme. Because ghosts are kind of transcendental. Right? Maybe. Anyway, have at it.
I'm too full of food to give a proper explanation of why I think this song fits week's theme, but I love the interplay of the voices on this, so that'll have to do.
You got a new horizon, it's ephemeral style
A melancholy town where we never smile
And all I wanna hear is the message beep
My dreams, they got a kissing
'Cause I don't get sleep, no
Take it all in on your stride
It is ticking, falling down
Love forever, love is freely
Turned forever, you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?
Green Day - Boulevard Of Broken Dreams (similar to the Radiohead song but more upbeat)
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me, and I walk alone
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one, and I walk alone
Was just about to post Last Train to Trancentral for the #JukeboxFridayNight#transcendence theme that our NZ friends have given us. And then it crossed my feed from someone else! So, instead, here's 3am Eternal - Pure Trance Original.
Set fire to the dark and show you my light / A long arc I draw a path for you / Hold your head up, where you stand is in the right / Every bit of you I'll illuminate
And if we're just looking for something to put a smile on your face … I have adored this song since I was a kid. There's something to be said for simple and straight forward joy.
Sometimes, finding joy is simply taking a moment to recognise that things aren't so bad.
Blind Melon (well, Shannon Hoon) "Life Ain't So Sh*tty"
And the recording sounds like someone recorded it on an answering machine because he did. And it sounds maybe not quite like a full song, because it was just a message left for a bandmate.
🎶 We take the pressure, and we throw away
Conventionality belongs to yesterday
There is a chance that we can make it so far
We start believing now that we can be who we are
Grease is the word🎶
