Wario World

It's Wario's World. You just live in it.

The short but sweet beat'em'up platformer in which you can piledrive your enemies into oblivion.

Wario is rich. But one of his jewels is also a demon that transforms is castle of riches into strange 2.5D stages.

Collect treasures, sprite things, red crystals, and golden statue pieces of yourself.

Fall off or die? You'll be dealt the appropriate punishment. Losing money!

Stay greedy

Wario Land 3

Wario's nonlinear music box adventure

Be Wario. Be sucked into a music box, be asked to save someone and keep treasure along the way.

Every level has 4 treasures in it that you can only access after many of the treasures modify the world you are in. Wario's forms are numerous and you are never at risk of dying.

There's a number of ways to get to your final goal of all the music boxes you need.

How far does greed go?

Warioland 4 for the GBA. My ex at the time made off with the cart and I never replaced it. But still got the box!

Okay, so from @miona has a topic of the week of . Since, apparently, I have Sonic the Hedgehog game brain rot...my initial thought was from Sonic Adventure 2 - "Meteor Herd"

However, after thinking about it some more, I came to Super Mario Land 2's Space Zone.

Matt Bounds released an amazing Space Zone remix on @ocremix called "Seeing Stars." You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPImGHs61Wg

One of my favorite parts of growing up is finally having access to all the games I used to read about in magazines and catalogs.

Just completed Wario Land 4, and it gave me mixed feelings.

First off, the presentation is fantastic! It has some of the prettiest sprite animations I've seen and the sound design is very playful and unique.

It made a few crucial changes to the formula. Wario is no longer immortal so you have to be more careful. There is a new speedrunning aspect to it, because once you "clear the level" you have to run back to the start before the time runs out.

Its focus has changed from the carefree puzzle platforming exploration I loved, Wario has fewer forms you can explore the levels with, so it's not my favorite. But it's quite short and polished, so it's well worth playing.

A screenshot from Wario Land 4 that shows a very flowery world, with two bees with sharp bee stings. Wario has been stung, and grown so large that he's floating.
